Entry: MOS
originally posted by Radio2600

Literally: "Member(s) Of the Service".

The term generically describes any one or all of the sworn law enforcement personnel within a jurisdiction without regard for rank, extent of arrest/search powers or other title. This term jurisdictions where other terms would cause confusion as they refer to specific levels of police powers such as: PO or LEO.

This term is most commonly used in New York City.
