Entry: Carding
originally posted by Harvestman

Carding is the practice of using a card key, namely a credit card or hotel key, to gain access to an area behind a locked door.

Carding is nowhere near as successful as lockpicking most of the time, but will work on the proper locks. On double doors which are not tightly locked, i.e. can be pulled outwards but not opened, a card may be run through the gap between the two doors, and will sometimes open the doors. It is usually not successful on doors with locks inside the knob.
