So if you know what ZORK is then you may understand my dilemma.

I recently acquired a vintage Mac Classic II which runs Mac os 6.0.8L.
I really want to run some classic text based games on this machine.
Problem is I dont know how to get files onto it.
All my other Computers are PCs.

This is were I turn to the community:

Please tell me how to transfer mac files onto a 3.5 floppy using a PC.

I bought a USB 3.5" floppy drive and a big stack of floppy disks.
I searched for about and 4 hours (seriously) online and all the explanations make no sence. I dont want to install Linux or any crazy stuff. Isnt there a simple way to write a mac floppy using a modern PC?

What do I do?

Does the floppy drive show up when you go to My Computer on your PC?

Have you tried one of those disks in the Mac? If the computer is newer than '87 it should be able to read it. If it doesn't than see if you can format the disk in HFS. If all else fails Norton Ghost might be able to format a floppy in HFS.

This link might help you figure out what filesystem you need the disk formatted in.

Hope this helps!

The Classic II has a built in superdrive and will take 1.44MB disks. If you stick a 1.44MB disk in the mac and format it for mac you can download a program called MacDrive for windows. Install it and it will read the 1.44MB mac formatted disk. Once you get that running, you can install a program on the mac its like PCdisk of PCdrive or something. It will allow you to read PC formatted 1,44MB floppies.

If your going to run anything on that mac i would highly recommend installing system 7.6.1 and some more ram. If need be I could probly find some ram and send it to you.

You cant use an 800k mac disk though.... since PC drives are designed differently and will only use 720k formatted disks.
