Odd coincidence...I just drove by it today when I was in the area for a business meeting. It's still there.

Yea, I could go for seeing some more pictures from that set!

I totally would, but don't have any more. I went for that one shot (i've been doing more single-shot projects with higher production value these days). Also, since both subjects are the same model, it was a fairly complex setup, requiring a fixed tripod, make-up and wardrobe changes on-location, and extensive compositing.

glad you like, though. ;)

Alice & i stopped by here this weekend. its definitely still there, also unfortunately there was a car show/hell's angels extravaganza in the nearby parking lot & across the street. so the site was teeming with the left to their own teenagers & much younger of negligent auto enthusiast parents come to see exotic cars & dawn stiff seldom worn leather. we noticed an older gentleman in a fenced area next to it that upon approach told us that he was restoring a train engine (a head car) to display there. he told us some history about the site, "the boiler" tower & the old freight car workshop building(heavily camera'd as Alice pointed out) behind it. he continued to tell us that the city had plans in the works to restore the roundhouse, though the city had not picked up any currents developers proposals. there is a nice feeling in this place still, i bet its even nicer when less populated.

I see no reason to restore this. The state is broke. Outside donations from volunteers, yes. But government money...no. Its been closed for this long already and we've gotten by just fine without it. this is my conservative side thinking out loud.

sincal: thanks man, glad you liked em! I think it would make a great train car & locomotive museum, it's naturally shaped like a huge showcase!

rescueme: I don't think this property/site would be re-opened under its initial purpose. I think it would be repurposed into a source of revenue for the city while preserving the history & culture local to the area & it's early industries.

it was a guy working on a train on site that told us about the museum, I assumed the train was for the museum itself..

Woah! A place I've been to, finally.

It was waaay more overgrown the last time I'd been there. A friend of a friend thought it was a fire yard but the turn table gave it away.

I'll dig around and see if I have any of the pics I took.

EDIT: Found! A lot of them are shittier versions of what's already up, but I took these... 3 or 4 years ago. Cut me a little slack, please?

Thanks for sharing and I love the back story on the place. I've been talking with a train buff as this was one of the places on my to-see list and couldn't believe all the history around the area. I hope to make it out that way too in the near future!
