All things Soviet are impressive, and it's amazing how such a 'low-tech' country can make such high-tech toys.
| While I agree with you that ALL things Soviet are impressive, Some of their high tech toys have been some mega disasters... (K-19, Chernobyl, etc.) Also, while the Ekranoplan is an awesome invention of theirs, they kinda bombed too.. I would love to see that Sub! I've been on the USS Hornet, USS Pampanito, and the USS Constellation (CV-64) <-My Dad's ship They're all cool, but I want to see what the Soviets ships were like
| Sounds fun! Let's go! |

| | | | Reply with Quote | Wow a 50 year old German sub, sunk, recovered, put on display, the museum goes broke, and she is left again, this time abandoned on dry land. Sad end to a fierce and proud lady. I had thought it was a US sub, but after looking at it a few more times the main gun and other railings looked unfamilier<sp> to me?

| You can see a million miles tonite, but you can't get very far. The cockpit's quiet, and the stars are bright. Feels kinda' like church in here tonight. |

| Sorry this is such a delayed response, but my understanding is that after the war the allies studied the U-Boat design and copied some of the innovations in hull design, such was the degree of innovation therein. The U-boat was really quite an impressive bit of engineering. Cheers Edit: And yes, for that particular example to be left to rot like that is probably one of the greatest crimes against history, ever.
