Posted by Shawn W. This reminds me of an entrance point that a friend of mine and I used to get into a graveyard when we were teens. There was a fence all the way around the property, which promptly stopped just as it hit a creek. We simply grabbed the fence for support, and walked around.

Our very first exploration three years ago into an Abandoned Wheat Mill happened because a giant garage door was completely open. We walked right in. We quickly learned that exploring the locations we accumulated was plenty easy without having to break anything to get inside. That same location yielded at least 8 different security holes throughout various trips; a hole into the basement covered by a piece of plywood, an open window, etc. It's how we came to say, "there's always a way in."

Interesting to discuss the topic, though. I guess there was a time when we thought it was simply our ingenuity and patience that found us those cracks in security, but of course our beginning was mostly reliant on pathetic security measures. As we got a little more experience, though, we learned that most of the pathetic security measures were a tragedy for some of our favorite locations. I guess, the most hilarious of pathetic security measures, in my opinion, would be the ones that work.

One location we visited put motor lubricant over all of the ledges, so that if anyone tried to climb up to one of the open windows, they'd slip. I think so far that's my favorite.

Doh!

Two cement plants, one is in a fence which is in another fence. The outside fence had two massive holes in it. So we walked right through. I thought we were gonna have to climb the second fence when my buddy checked the gate and it was unlocked. We saw a spray painted sign saying we were under video surveillance but other wise we just walked right in.

Second steam plant, one side is flanked by two business that are in use. The other side faces a forest. The forest has a trail leading to the plant but the trail is blocked by a fence...that doesn't go very far. So we walk around the fence and onto the trail.

Montreal: Brewery code named "The Stink Factory." Tried climbing onto a roof only to realize someone who didn't want people there had smeared shit all over the ledge. We didn't realize it until we had already put our hands in it and slid our bodies across it. Well.... at least the place lives up to its name.

That is incredibly disgusting. I don't think I would call poop a pathetic security measure. It actually sounds pretty good compared to most of the other things described on this thread. I don't think I could knowingly go through/over poop just to explore. I hate poop so much.

I didn't have a wide enough lens to do it justice, but it's a window in a door which has been highly secured using parts from a bed. There I fixed it!!1

Also, the building had decorative brickwork at each corner of the building which protruded from the normal flat surface making the building climbable up to the roof.

funny thing, i read this yesterday. Then today while snooping around a certain underground parking ramp that had some interesting underground cliff, i saw a gate like that and says to my partner " i was reading about these..." and gave a push and sure enough it opened. we also discovered that said particular mechanisms also bent if you pushed hard enough. So even if they did weld the pieces, it wouldnt do much it you hit the gate hard enough. we bent them back when we left of course.

Actually, it's just supermarkets and shops who tend to do that. Research and paper based statistics tend to prop up the idea that it works though*!

Basically it's like having a Police Officer without the cost and with far higher intelligence in your store 24/7.
