My sister & I stopped at an abandoned garage in Deer Creek Canyon on our way up to Conifer to explore some cabins. Lots of junk inside complete with a hole in the ceiling that goes all the way outside! The attic stairs were partially missing on the lower half, so we had to do some UrbEngineering and find something to stand on to get us up high enough to use the stairs. We did not walk in the loft as there were many places that it looked like people or things had fell through. Not too much up there except a lot of mouse turds and some junk.

There is a lovely grouping of old cabins right in downtown Conifer. Some are sealed up tight though. I think from looking at the assessor's records on these places, they were built around the 1940s-50s. The ones that were open were wide open with no doors at all. They were filled to the gills with junk, you could hardly walk in them! They almost all had outhouses too. Some of this property is for sale for development, so they may not be around for long.
