Thanks guys. I'm going to be redoing this one a few more times as I didn't get the frame I wanted. I want to add color to the urinals too I think.

Think I'll stick to gels over a flashlight ;)

oh, I googled it and all I got was some chemical business.
Here's a few more attempts at the same scene

Just a flashlight pointed at the ceiling

Flashlight to ceiling and painted urinals with a small flashlight

similar as last but with no gels and a different angle (my favorite)

Flashlight in my hands and led flashlight to paint the urinals......renengade sucks at light painting ;)

Just a flashlight in the desk

One from the archives!

This is a little cattle dam on land now occupied by a municipal water supply dam. Two years ago, when this was taken, water supply was at critically-low levels due to an unprecedented drought, and so this landscape emerged as the dam receded.

This was a half-hour exposure shot into a fading sunset, with some light painting in the foreground to produce the shadow, and give a little detail to the cracked mud. I'm really not sure what kind of light I used - maybe a little Energizer LED headlamp?

I feel like my framing could have been better but I still like the effect I got

Gorgeous... reminds me a bit of "Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico" because of the illuminated foreground and the beautiful night sky. The effect is natural and well done.

@injektilo
A little wider or farther back might help the composition some, but the lightpainting is so well done it almost doesn't need it. You've been busting out some crazy good stuff lately!

Yesterday myself and Man_underground (also a member here at UER) spent close to six hours in the "Maze". This drain is possibly one of the best drains in Australia with numerous tunnel shapes, waterfalls, junctions and chambers. The fact that parts of this drain are 100 years old makes it great for light painting.
After a lot of experimentation we came up with the following:

M.C.D.P is the name of our small group of drain photographers, it stands for Melbourne City Drain Painters. This photo was a 5 minute exposure F5.6 Shot on an Olympus digital SLR (not mine, I still use a 35mm SLR) we used a special device we built for the spirograph effect, flouro lantern with custom built filters, army "L" type torch with yellow filter to do the writing.

Love the spirograph! If it's not a closely-guarded secret, I'd love to see how you did that.

The thing we use for the spirograph effect is a 12" bike wheel that has a set of battery operated LED lights evenly spaced around the rim. The lights battery pack is taped to the spokes, and a BMX type peg is attached to the wheels axle. WE simply turn the lights on and run the wheel around the drain's walls in a complete circuit.
A tutorial for making your own light wheel is given at twin citie's brightest or TCB's site at:

The wheel used is 16" as I couldn't get hold of a cheap 12" but size does NOT matter. Unless you're in a very small tunnel.

worm hole

spirograph

my attempt to draw a witch, can you spot the eye?

octopus7 and his burning the steel wool..I added coloured walls in Ps.

first attempt with the light-wheel with obvious slip.

Glad to be here.

I have a few packs of steel wool sitting downstairs now. If I don't end up actually exploring tonight, I'll be indulging my inner pyromaniac instead
