Abandoned something or other in Walnut Creek

Anyone know what this building used to be? I've been searching the web for a while now, and I've come to the conclusion that the only way to find out is to ask people. It's currently for lease as a teardown and rebuild restaurant site. Based on the steel doors and handrails, it wasn't a private residence. The fountains are still running out front owing to its proximity to an office park complex, but the sign out front has no writing. It's pretty trashed-looking inside, but it does have some interesting stonework and multiple split levels. Any ideas?

You know, it almost looks like the clubhouse of an old golf course. I've seen similar looking from 70's era courses in other places.

When did the office park go in? Could it be the office park rests on an old golf course, and this building is a relic of that?

Cool looking, nonetheless!

Looks like someone chopped the top off a normal building, dragged it over to this place and just set 'er on the ground. Strange aesthetic. This is down the street from my house. I'll go investigate. There's another in Walnut Creek I haven't been in yet. Between Olympic and YV road right on the east side of 680. Wood. Difficult to get inside, even for me...

Freeside lives in the WC??! I though for sure he was a fellow hood rat, living in a hard section of Oakland or Hayward.

Yeah, close to the WC. Not sayin' where exactly. I used to live in the hood in Oakland, South B-town (aka Berkeley), Pinole, and Vallejo. Got tired of seeing crack deals go down in front of my house.

Yota,
The co-op on geary at n. main has been closed up since prob before I was born. Might be very interesting inside. I think I know a way in too.

It has stuff like scaffolding and boards and construction junk inside for some contractor, you can see it through some cracks in the wall. There wss a story in the "crime" section of the paper a while back about copper scavengers getting caught by the cops.

Can you call the people leasing the property, acting as if you're interested in leasing the grounds, and then say something like "The structure that's there now is kind of an unusual design. Any idea on the history of the structure? Why is the plan to tear it down instead of renovate/expanding it?" I know it'd be a weird design to incorporate into a restaurant.

It's trashed inside. You'd have to tear it down and build a new restaurant structure, which I think is the idea. I'll call and find out. Mostly just didn't want to draw attention to it in case I decided to go inside.

This is supposed to represent the pics from the original post? I think they're different locations, although in the same city.

Yeah, Co-Op is a different location in the same city. No idea why that link was posted.
