If you don't require rotating images I suggest tinypic.com

You should add instructions for http://www.imgur.com which is the photo hosting site of choice by Reddit. It doesn't require an account to upload images to. If you need me to type up how, I'll be happy to help. ☺

This question has probably been asked a million times and for that I apologize. When I try to post an image on a reply, it comes up sideways. Is there anyway I can rotate it to the proper direction? A link to a forum or advice would be great. I'll give an example. 1.

I'm not sure what you run, but I run Windows 10 on my computer. Here's what you got to do.

- Navigate to the folder containing your pictures in File Explorer.
- Right click on the picture you want to rotate. Click "Edit".
- In the upper left hand corner of the photo editing window, there should be a button called "Rotate". Click that and choose the desired rotation.
- Save and exit the photo editor.

There is no way to rotate images on UER to my knowledge, so you'll just have to do it yourself before uploading.

I took a photo holding the camera sideways; i.e., portrait mode. The picture opened correctly on my PC in portrait orientation in Irfanview and Paint, and the thumbnail in File Explorer was in portrait mode. When I uploaded it to UER, the picture was rotated 90 degrees sideways, as if in landscape mode.

The solution was to open the picture on my PC, rotate it 90 degrees to the right and do a save as. The new picture opened sideways on my PC. On UER, it was shown correctly in portrait mode.

Maybe we should change the original post here.

Well that stinks. Even though it is swamped with ads when I use it, it is my go-to location to throw a picture up when I need it. It's much faster than resizing it myself and using FTP to put it on one of my website servers. Oh well....

Thanks for the notice!

Abby

Thanks for all of the image sizing info; that definitely helped a lot. I have my own website, but none of the images are that small and I try to post the entire location in chronological order as I worked my way through. So, I’ll definitely have to just choose a few from each gallery. I’m assuming that I am able to post a link to that specific gallery on my personal website, just for anyone who may be interested in checking out the entire location?

If you have flashplayer, you can choose photos to display here and someone added a program that will automatically resize it for you before posting it. If you decide to go that route, you might want to replace the "img" in the code to, "inp," so the photo will show up without having to click on it.
Or, you can do what I do and find a way to get the bbcode for the photo. I prefer this way (I use Flickr but other sites will do the trick too) because it won't butcher the resolution like the first way will.
Hopefully that made sense!

Woot! This completes this test. You may return to your normally scheduled programming, posting, lurking, trolling, or whatever it is you do....

I want to add photos to a location/update the details, but every time I click any of those it says I "do not have sufficient access". How do I get access?

Everything you need and want to know:

https://www.uer.ca...d=1&threadid=27619

When you signed up you agreed to read the above, and the button on the left of your page flashed for a couple weeks (it probably still is). Throw in a whole bunch of patience, be positive, and don't complain if you are denied the first time. I too am only a basic member, but prior to signing up I've lurked the basic forums for many years. I know for certain that people who aren't positive, don't share photos (most of the time - some seem to skate by pic-less, perhaps they know other FMs), and throw a fit when denied almost never get full membership. Complainers are also shamed with barrage of trolls and boats (actually quite entertaining). While you can't add photos to a location in the DB yet, you can share those photos in the forums, and maybe link the DB page for reference. You'll find tips on how to share those pics in the FAQ I linked above. You can then add them to the DB when you become a full member. Share, share, and share some more! Pics, pics, pics!!! Good luck to us both....

Ohhh I saw that posting pictures was supposed to help gain full membership, I thought it meant to locations in the DB, Ill upload them to the forum, thank you so much for clarifying that!

So I’ve been struggling to post images here due to the sizes of them but does anyone recommend a website or app that allows me to shrink photos of like 1-5 MB to sub 100 KB it seems the lowest I can find on google is about 250 KB. It’s also been a while and a lot of the methods mentioned don’t seem to work or at least work differently now.

Also would I be correct in assuming videos cannot be uploaded on here?? I apologize in advanced if I missed a post or section that covered these questions I am still learning to navigate the forum.

Thank you!
