Hey, everyone. I just thought I'd post my collection of photos from a recent visit to New Orleans. Specifically, from this place:

Here are some of my selects:

For some reason, I didn't bring my tripod...I'm already planning a return trip. More here and here.

Thank you, everyone! The Market Street Generating Station is probably the best trespassing in New Orleans. The place is massive and every bit of it is gorgeous. Since it was our (me + my Russian best friend) first trip to the place, we decided that it was best to leave the tripods in the car. There was a bit of fence scaling in broad daylight, so it seemed like a good idea at the time. I also wasn't sure about the current MILITARY POLICE presence in New Orleans, having moved away to Seattle (my visit to New Orleans last year involved ducking a humvee complete with mounted machine gun). The latter wasn't an issue, thankfully.

Next time, we're heading to the roof...

I shot these with a Canon EOS-30D. I kept my Canon EF-S 17-55mm (f2.8 + IS) on the entire time. Great lens for low-light situations...nice coverage...sharp as an L.

As far as processing, I've been using Adobe Lightroom. After the RAW conversion, I bring it into Photoshop (16bit / ProPhoto). For sharpening, I use PhotoKit Sharpener. For noise reduction, I use Noise Ninja.

Here are the rest:

Again, thanks for the feedback! This place is definitely a must-visit if you are ever in New Orleans.

Beautiful stuff. #2 and #3 really capture what that place is all about.

I think it's been largely vacant for 30-odd years.

I have been admiring this set for a while on Flickr. These are some of your best. I am looking forward to seeing what comes of the return trip. I always thought you used some light tone mapping on your photos but apparently not.

I can usually get enough out of just one RAW exposure. Sometimes, I'll bracket a range of three exposures just to cover any sky / window blowouts...but lately, I've just been sticking to a single RAW workflow out of Lightroom.

ProPhoto RGB is pretty nice.

Thank you guys, again!
