Lack of responces...
< on 9/27/2007 5:44 PM >
Posted on Forum: UER Forum

Aside from my first collection of photos, I'm being largely ignored. I was wondering if it was because I've been posting them in the "Photography" section.

Do you think I might get better responses if I post in the "Photo Critiques" section?

...or maybe it's just because I'm new...

What's the link dude! Post it here, I will take a look, I highly doubt it's because yer new, infact I don't even look at the amount of time a person has been on the site when I read a post or look at someones photos. So please. Post the link to that thread here and I am sure you will get some feedback bud..
Take care

I'll go with a new thing, my posts are the same way. Unless you wicked profound, or take pictures better then... anything anyone has ever seen, you usually have to wait before you get noticed.

Don't worry tho I'm sure thing for you will get better.

Here post a link to your pictures and I'll comment on them and I'll be honest.

Though I'm no pro photographer, I hope my input will be useful.

We are going to inherit the earth . There is not the slightest doubt about that. The bourgeoisie may blast and burn its own world before it finally leaves the stage of history. We Are not afraid of ruins. We who ploughed the prairies and built the cities can build again, only better next time. We carry a new world, here in our hearts. That world is growing this minute.

That's pretty much it. The members here have seen every conceivable type of location shot in so many different ways that it really takes a lot to rock the boat and stir up some interest. Especially with every second explorer being a photographer (and some really fucking good) the board is flooded with excellent examples of great locations by people who have been shooting for a long time.

It's obvious you have a lot to learn about the photographic process and the variables you can control in taking a photo so go out and lurk, read and shoot. Don't be disheartened by the lack of interest here it's just that you're dealing with a lot of people who've been spoiled by great exploring photos every single day.

So many photos are posted every day in the photo thread, so unless your photos stand out in some way, they probably won't get that many comments. If you're looking for critiques and tips, post in the Photo Critique section, but if you just want people to talk about your photos, just keep posting, and I'm sure someone will say something eventually.

On a side note, so many people who post in the photo section seem to be constantly searching for validation. The posts saying "Wow, xxx many people have viewed this, and no comments yet! WHY?!" seem to be increasing. Are you all that desperate for praise from strangers on the internet?

Crop your photos to 2:3 aspect ratio to disguise the fact that you're shooting them on a compact digital (and to alleviate the fact that you're not realizing that most of them require cropping anyway -- two birds, one stone!), and I guarantee you'll double the number of replies you receive.

Yeah, exploring tends to draw out good photographers in the same way cheap bars draw out the alcoholics. Keep trying bud, and don't worry too much about it.

Well, that's just IT! So many people say that Connecticut has NOTHING, I mean there are only 4 areas on the site map TOTAL that pertain to Connecticut. If I was a full Member, I'd be able to add another 7! It's not my goal to show everyone how great a photographer I am, though it WOULD be nice of they like them, but to show everyone what is available here. Heck, I just came back from Nova Dye & Print where the entire 5th floor has collapsed into the 4th, and I got photos from IN those floors!

It's not like that at all: sure it would be nice if people liked my photos, but I want to show everyone that Connecticut isn't UE black hole people believe it to be.

I know that I have a lot to improve on, but how can I improve if people don't tell me what's wrong?
