Trips 2 and 3 to the State Hospital

Trips 2 and 3 since Demolition of the Evansville State Hospital began---->

2.)

We decided this on an impulse, Shai, Cowboy, and myslef called Kat and we decided to go at around 10 p.m. I took a long way around to the location to avoid lights and I guess I saved a little time.

We decided it was too risky to use the last entrance; the demo team had noticed. We walked around the fence on the South side and stumbled over plenty of wires in the process. I managed to get my fat ass oer the fence first, then Kat, then Shai, then Cowboy, who managed to land on a rock. After Cowboy finished swearing, we directed our attention to the garage. One inside Shai became a little lax on care with his light and we soon grew uneasy in the building, as demolition had opened many large parts of the walls and doors. Heading into the main courtyard, we were soon struck with the impression that the place had been bombed.

IMAGINE THIS: You walk into your school, and head to your regualr 1st period classroom, but instead of a room there is just a pile of rubble or a 20 foot hole. That is what this was like.

Doors on the 3rd floor we had used just days ago now opened only to a 30 foot drop. We proceeded to walk around inside the main courtyard, looking at the destruction and deciding what building to go into, when we wee it: A wide open entrance into the one building we have never been able to get into before. We entered through an old stairwell/doorway made of concrete and headed inside. I wasn't wearing a respirator, so the dust bothered me a bit, but it wasn't too bad (I started coughing uncontrollably later that night XD). We looked around a bit, didn't hit the basement, and went around the outside a bit more before leaving under the gate we entered from last time.

And like last time, we almost got caught. Again.

I got over the fence. then Kat. Then Shai. Then--- NOPE, HERE COMES A GUARD. We hit the dirt behind some nearby trees and Cowboy dodged into some tall grass. He[the guard] went by, but we were pretty sure he saw us. After he had driven far enough, we got Cowboy over the fence and booked it for the park exit. He drove by again, but it was easy to spot him in time and get cover. I think he may have called the cops, but nothing ever came of it, so no harm done.

3.)

This was our most recent trip, and the most intense I've ever been on. We followed the EXACT as the last trip until we got inside, where we proceeded directly to the Phantom Theatre (the previously inaccessible building). We looked around a bit, the hit the basement. We found a massive ass generator and two openings into the entire complexe's sir duct system. We discussed whether or not a bear could fit inside. The point is, the ducts were big enough that we were disagreeing whther a bear could fit in them, so yeah they were really big. We got some cool shots down there, headed back up, scraw;ed a few tasteful goodbye messages to the site in case we never got back in, and took some pictures. I screwed mine up, i have a pic but here is the quote as I wished it to be written:

"Whenever man has the capacity to maintain something beautiful by doing nothing, he acts."

Coboy's message:

"Words can fail

Images don't

Look around."

Shai's message:

"The Litany to Fear." (See "Dune" by Frank Herbert)

Kat's Message:

Some obscure inside joke shit.

AAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYWWWWWAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY----->

We left our messages, debated salvaging signs, made a few plans to possibly get said signs on a later date, and decided it was time to leave. We ended our early departure after we saw that the glass above a doorknob on a door to the auditorium had been busted in, allowing us to enter. We explored the auditorium, saw the awesome piano again, and this time, we explored the basement. As we were exploring the basement, a guard pulled up right outside the building where we were, rolled down his windows, and cut his engine. We held our breath, waited, and he finally left. We moved across the building and exited the basement from the other side. We decided to leave, and I got under the general exit just fine. HOWEVER, AS SOON AS I STOOD UP, THE GUARD FUCKING DROVE RIGHT PAST AGAIN! I dove behind trees, the dude most definitely saw me, sped around, called the cops, circeld the park again to find us again, etc. As soon as he pulled far enough away, the others scrambled out. We tore off for the exit, but the street we had to cross, (one sec I'll draw a diagram):

This is a basic diagram of the park, we used the top to get in usually, as a street is there to walk down after we got off the grounds so we can look inconspicuous if we have to:

So, when we crossed THIS ROAD:

We were moving pretty damn fast, and didn't see the guard coming around 20 FEET AWAY FROM US WHILE WE WERE ON THE DAMN ROAD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PARK WITH NO COVER!!!

He saw, us, usual shit, we dove, knew it was useless, we waited for him to circle again and took off. he kept circling us until we got out of the park and into our cars. It was intense, but the cops didn't get there in time to "speak" to us. (America Police LOL). It was fun, intense, and we're going again. looking for physically fit, adventurous explorers. Email me at [email protected] if you want to go, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity.
