	For me, Lent's not so much about the giving up as it is about the doing extra. Giving more to the poor and needy. I think Jesus would want that more than he would want me to go without coffee or something.

	Right, I think the idea behind the givng up for Lent was to give up something that would be difficult to abstain from... like coffee, perhaps (if you drink it). _{I'm not currently giving up anything, but I have a couple times before in past years.}

I actually really like your point of view. I always thought lent was stupid, as needless sacrifice is a waste. So I never gave anything up. I really like your idea. If I had something to give I would lol.
