I'm looking for a VHF transmitter, fairly powerful, and portable.
It's for a project i'm working on, i've found a portable VHF reciever i can use,
but i need a transmitter to attach to a camera.
Anyone with any help at all, please reply.

I would think you would have a pretty hard time finding a VHF transmitter capable of transmitting fast scan TV (I'm assuming you're using this mode being that you mentioned that you have intentions of using it with some type of camera.)

It depends on how much you want to spend and what kind of range your looking for.

Also, how much can you spend. I could give you links to "big iron" stuff... but you probably wouldn't like the price

I would prefer next to nothing (student budget), but i could go to around 50$...
I've also heard that FM frequencies can be used to transmit video- is that true?

If your looking for something cheap, you could try TV6C. I've bought from ramsey before and I've been pleased.

The range will be about on 500ft at best.

And heres the big complicated discussion on if you can transmit video on fm frequencies

Technically, yes you can transmit video on fm frequencies. It uses a lot of bandwidth, and is illegal. I'm sure theres a way you can put the two signals on the same frequencies, although I wouldnt know how to. Although I dont see why you would want to do this. A fm radio transmitter can't do this, most tv's cant tune to video signals in the FM range. You would have to have a specially built transmitter and receiver to do this.
