According to some locals, the school was used purchased for $50 dollars years ago and a family moved in. They left more than ten years ago, but they didn't empty their fridge or freezer. Naturally, we wanted to see what was in there. The stench was overwhelming, and there was a splash of some liquid when each door opened. I think one of the containers in the fridge has shrimp inside. Wow..pretty brave of you two to open that..i like how the pickles look like they were just put there or something..everything else is totally disgusting and its obvious that stuff has been in there for a while..but the pickles look fine

I once stepped on a live vulture living in an abandoned farm house as I was climbing the semi dangerous rotted stairs to the semi rotted dangerous 2nd floor. What ensued was a 1/2 hour of me poking at it with a bit of wood trying to get it to move so I could decamp from the upper level. The beast had a growl that would make the devil shit his pants...and stank like my ex-wife's naughty bits. It was a lot of me yelling down to my girlfriend to get the hell out and asking "do vultures carry rabies?" while contemplating jumping from a 2nd floor window to a tree. I finally prevailed and the demon left the premises with a 10ft section of wood whacking it repeatedly out of my way...idea for a new thread:

what places have you been trapped/had to find another escape route to leave from due to birds with nasty dispositions and foul smells and a penchant for rushing anything that disturbs their rest...

my girlfriend (now my wife) was also acommpanied by her twin sisters who frequently remind me of my girlish screams of terror at the bird's viciousness...

I actually stepped on what I consider the devil's nuts and heard the hiss/growl/throat noise of hell

Found a dead junkie in the old Whirlpool factory when I was 14. Called the cops and they came and took the body. The smell was something I'll never forget.They tore the place down less than a year later. sad on both parts. Other than that just the dead rats and pidgeons.

I worked for the gov and i was doing disaster relief after katrina and rita, and i found several bodies, and i agree with you. the smell is something you will never forget.

I have found two dead foxes, multiple dead birds and then of course this was fantastic...

No kidding! After that raw sewage smells like roses! Oh yeah. And roasted dead cat smells like hamburgers when it cooks (Too long a story to tell.)

I found this guy a week or so ago. Not the strangest thing I've come across, that would be an abandoned house where a swinger lived with his mother until she died. One room was filled with polaroids of the guy posing, sex toys, and "hook-up" magazines.
A very Norman Bates kind of feel.
