I finally got around to taking a lesson at an airport near my house the other day. I gotta admit, its alot different than flying on a jet. Right now I just started doing about 3 flight hours a week, and they're teaching me some things about landing in a slip and navigation using dead reckoning. Is there anyone here that could reccomend me a good book to get through this stuff faster? I have to complete 50 hours of time, 10 have to be at night and another 10 have to be solo. Anyone else here taking lessons?

Hey buddy, Im gettin my pilots liscence too. I am learning from the CFA ( Canadian Flight Academy). When I did the ground school i got a whole bunch of books included in the cost. One of the good ones i got was " FROM THE GROUND UP". It has everything inside of it. It sucessfully got me to my first solo. Try to see if they have it at the airport that you are taking lessons out of.

I'll have to check for that, my lessons are on a pay as you go kinda thing, so their making me buy my own headset and books. Right now I'm using a FAR/AIM book by Irvin Gleim, its kinda helping me out.
