Ze Malt plant
entry by TaP

The Canada Malting plant is huge and is a good example of the factories of the industrial revolution. It has impressive murals and is the only plant in canada with terra-cotta silos. It used to create malt used for beer brewing. The Malting plant closed around 1996 and relocated at the Port of Montreal for accessibility purposes. Now, it's horrible decay impressed many curious minds, most of them are scared to venture inside, but some actually do.

The plant is a very dangerous place, lack of maintenance is the cause. In many places, huge gaps are present. And most of the wood flooring has rotted away. Throughout the plant, there is a horrible stench of rotten grain present at all time. When the company relocated, most of the grain stayed there too, leaving it to rot.

The Malting plant has interessed many explorers sinced it closed. Many know this place like the back of their hands. Graffity artists have covered almost every inch of this place leaving interesting murals.Others have vandalised the building leaving horrible messes adding to the decay. The plant is a must see for everyone living in or visiting montreal.
