| First Expedition entry by SilentSearch 5/31/2005 12:37 PM
| 5-30-05 Day started good. Entered the site at approximately 0745. Weather was overcast and humid but cool. Entered the site from the northwest, crossing two sets of railroad tracks, an empty coal train sitting on one. I had to climb through this train. Next to this was a dirt road that was used by railroad personnel but being a holiday, traffic was light and only 3 vehicles were seen in the 90 minutes on this road while I was there. One other vehicle was noted on the south end but it was next to another business in close proximity to me but I remained unseen. Will have to return but with at least one other to explore deeper into the structure. This site had 3 sets of silos. No entry was found in one, but a possible entry was located in the second and third, which could possibly lead to the upper sections of the elevator. There were areas that remained unexplored as the possibility of homeless people inside precluded any exploration. Many doors were welded shut but there was noted a locked steel for that had a strong odor of insecticide. Could be a possible storage site for chemicals. Also noted were many areas that were below grade but full of water. No indication of depth. It should be noted that this site is near another grain elevator that is still in operation. (Across Main Street, west of this site) On the east side, a large railroad switch yard with many trains moving thru. Consider exploring this site on a day when most workers are off. (Holidays, Sundays) Watch out of vehicles on road observing you between the silos.
