Thoughts on a Rainy Day
entry by McBain

Well over where I am today, it is cold, around 5 degrees celcius, and looks like it is going to rain. Today I was going to go out to scout an abandoned motel just down the road from me, but I just decided to stick around and do absolutely nothing.

Today I have mainly done some Internet research on possible summer explorations that I am planning. The one place I am anxiously waiting to explore is Mount Cheminis in Northern Ontario. I remember climbing it once when I was alot younger, and the view was spectacular, and it didn't take very long to get to the top of the hill. Now I am try to get access to finding a map with the location of the main trail because I am not too sure where the access road is to the mountain.

Anyway, on to other topics....

I am somewhat concerned about this Level III trust system going on with this forum. I do understand that there have been some issues with explorers stealing items from locations, as well as vandalizing, and I do agree something has to be done to filter out these people from viewing locations. I have noticed some explorers on the board seem to be rubbing their Level III status in the faces of Level II people, which I believe is totally wrong and complete bullshit.Level II people, (some that should be Level III, some should not be) are being told to " go out and meet Level III members", or "go and do UE stuff" or go to a "local meet to meet up with UE members". Speaking for myself, and possibly a few other members here... I am located smack in the middle of 2 major centers of Explorers. I am probably a 2 1/2 -3 hr drive from T.O. and probably 2 hr drive to Ottawa. There are no Level III in my area for me to meet. I mainly go exploring myself, and if there was some other UE members close enough, I would definitely go explore with them. So the go meet some Level III members option is unlikely due to my work commitments (40 + hours of night shift work). I have checked the User Search database for anyone from Kingston, and there is like only 2 active members in the community from this area, the others are either new members or people that are long gone. As for doing "UE related stuff". I do alot of UE related stuff. I am out every chance I get scouting out different sites for future exploring, reading the forums, chatting about UE related topics in the chatroom. As for posting in the forums, I haven't posted as much as I have wanted, but I do post, and all of my posts that I do make do pertain to UE related activities. I do not post anything stupid, or having flaming wars with other members like some people do. All my posts are constructive and should be noticed. How many damn posts have there been for Level II people bitching about not being given access, and taking their content elsewhere. I am sick of it.

I guess the point I am trying to explain is that I have been on the site for over a year. I joined the site so I could share UE experiences, eventually post some locations in the UE database (currently not possible).I don't know how long it is going to take to get this Level III, a day, a month, a year, never. Who knows, one of these days, I may just have to give up on this site since there will be less and less for Level II to view. And having some of the Level III "rubbing their status" in the faces of some of the Level II's, this is quite disturbing since these people are suppose to be "model members" of the community, not the community Jackasses.
