Some library geek (tweed jacked with leather elbow patches, little reading glasses on one of those granny strings around his neck, and terminal coffee breath, and badly scuffed loafers) told me point blank that the stories in the book are accurate, but that the author had been smeared in an ugly campaign that went all the way into the Mayor's office. Apparently, Satanism and child ritual abuse are very bad for attracting tourist dollars. This library geek also told me that the dozens of holds on the title are all artificial; they are intended to keep a more-or-less true story from the public.

I take that with a grain of salt.

Take a look at this link:

http://members.sha...helleremembers.htm

It's just one of a few websites that debunks the book. I don't believe this kind of fake satanism exists. If you really believe in the existence of god, why would you worship 'the devil' and risk eternal damnation in hell. Doesn't make sense. Real satanists don't believe in god or hell. I know that you know this already, but other people out there aren't applying any logic. The book is a load of shit. But sensational stories sell, and that ($$$$$) is what this is about.

Precisely. Tourists eat this shit up. They eat up the shit about tunnels. This whole Satanic Tunnel thing is about money and how to best extract it from tourists who don't know better.

Sure thang, hell we could build a tunnel that looks old and is made out of brick, and charge de niro to go in and take pictures. We could even have plastic skelletons and bats pop out everyone and a while, while playing a creepy tape over a shitty boom box.

i doubt any of the tunnel stuff is for tourists. it sounds more like these legends are for the locals.

i believe in the book, not everyone is in it for the money.

Agreed.

If anything other than truth. The MAIN reason the book was written was to raise awareness of SRA (Satanic Ritual Abuse) as well as the abuse of children for any reason.

I know this was intended as sarcasm, but I should have been more clear. I was saying that the book was about making money, not the tunnels (duh). If some of you people actually want to believe that ritual satanic abuse takes place then I'm not going to waste a lotta time trying to convince you otherwise...

...although I'm still really curious who these people are who worship the christian devil? What do they gain from this activity? Why would they subject children to 'satanic' abuse? Enquiring minds wanna know...

As far as the tunnels go, I have no problem believing that some were created for illicit purposes and that they may exist under Victoria. I just don't understand why any self respecting satanist would suddenly start believing in christian bedtime stories and go into a dingy, dirty drain and abuse children. Why wouldn't they just abuse them in the basement at their house?

You're asking me to prove a negative? That is an intellectually bankrupt position to take. The onus is on you to provide 'proof'.

Predictive theories about why 'Michelle Remembers' was written:

Theory #1: to make money

Theory #2: to expose a giant satanic abuse conspiracy

Occam's razor: Given two equally predictive theories, choose the simpler. The simplest explanation is usually the correct answer.

P.S. I guess you just wanna belieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeve....

That is PRECISELY what her account mainly consists of in the book, there is only a couple mentionings of the tunnels/cemetery.

Oh and by the way. I've been in the house where some of the ritual abuse from Michelle Remembers had supposedly taken place. It is a very old Victorian house that is recognized as a heritage home by the Victoria Heritage Society. When I went in.. The owners were away on Vacation or something and they were having the place house-sat by a couple UVIC students *I think* Anyways, I told them that the house they were staying in may be connected to this and that..yaddayaddayadda...They invited me into the front pantry for a quick chat. I noticed what looked like a cellar door, kindof off-set under the staircase, I asked them what it was, they said they didn't know, but that the owners specifically told them "not to go down there"

This "cellar door" is padlocked real good, When I lent down to take a whiff I got the smell of stale are, and a dirt floor....Just like cellar Michelle was often locked in for days upon end, she was forced to drink her own urine and eat any bugs she could find down there.

I wish I could get inside once more to see if I could match up the schematics of the house with the circular shaped room and oval shaped fireplace mentioned in the book. Also, while walking the raised lawns, I noticed old metal grate fixtures placed periodically along the house's boarder.

The owners are now back and everytime I have gone for an interview or chat with them, they seem very strange. Windows drawn, "Beware of Dog" sign *there clearly is no dog* and avoidance. Perhaps they get people frequently dropping by for inquiries and are tired of it. Oh yea, and outside in front of the house there are 2 pillars with what REALLY look like devil faces on them.

...

[EDIT: Anyone who has more information/pictures/location details about this house, PLEASE refrain from releasing such data out of respect of the current and previous residents' privacy.]

Actually, I was being serious. Ask the local tour guides about their tunnel stories.

The guys on those three-wheeled pedicabs? $60 an hour to start. Some of them earn upwards of $1000 US per day humping tourists around the back of their bikes telling stories of underground tunnels in Victoria.

Tunnels: true or not. This is a story with an economic angle.

My apologies, I misunderstood your post. If perpetuating devil worship stories actually brings in tourist dollars then it makes a whole lot of sense. You would think it would be bad for tourism. Go figure.

I took photos more than a year before this thread started that prove that the Church of the Sub Genius logo is stenciled all over the Hall of Wonders.

I know I'm several pages behind, but I remember a kid in highschool (mid-late 90s) that stenciled that logo all over Victoria/Saanich. I wonder if he was the one who stenciled the hall of wonders, heh...

I’ve read this thread for a while and finally I just have to butt in. Mavrix you’re a fucking joke. Your writings are ramblings that any 3rd grader would be ashamed to turn in for a grade. You don’t think people know what a pentagram looks like? It’s a fucking star in a circle. Only a halfwit like you would need help remembering what it looked like. Everyone I knew growing up knew what they looked like if for no other reason that the cover of some awful death metal album. Finding a pentagram in a sewer is proof of nothing but someone having a marker in the sewer.

If you honestly believe this BS then I’ve got a sacrificial dagger used in actual satanic ceremonies that I’d be willing to sell you for $200. It's stained with the blood of a virgin. Or it could just be catsup on a steak knife. You're too stupid to know the difference anyway.
