Interesting octagon downtown. There's some hollow spots below the parking near the Junk Store. Odd mix of stuff in the area. The Mexican Restaurant; looks like they had a fire, now gutted and renos started.

Yes, time for discussion, since there's been so little on this thread
If you read the lines, then read between them, lot's of clues. One example of a real tunnel: The Empress smoke show... Yep, Sum Bin Doun. Well, I heard his bro has...
very wise words from one of the greats....took your advise and think we maybe onto something substantial yet a little less talked about, if your still around the garden city, I would love to buy you a beer sometime.

Is that right by the johnson street bridge?
Yea I don't think it's the spot we looked at...that looks closer to the whale wall...I looked in again driving by and it looked like they were tunneling under the road.....maybe for new drainage or sewer?

Was thinking they are building a entrance to a drain looks like a manhole with a ladder coming out?...would support my earlier theory of why they were tunneling under the road?.....I could be completely wrong though hard to tell size by the picture.

Hey, thanks Brandon, would be cool. Others in the group were bolder than I, and better at research; but something worked. We all contributed. Imo, UE is really about the passion we feel as individuals. Then when a group has the same interest, things can get amazing.
We were lucky, K K brought it all together, then we hit the streets on many levels. Okay, pardon old guy rant. Cool you and others are keeping the spirit going. I'm always looking at abandoned houses, (often getting in; cheap thrill) and holes in the ground etc. An odd sickness O.o. Wouldn't ever want to be healed, lol.

(J-VIC) You know I can't give the exact location, but have a burrito, and you might be in a Lucky area. Walking or on a bike you'll see way more than in the car.
It looks like a ladder leading into a hole. Reason is because it's a ladder leading into an octabong shaped whole. Cheers
Clue word of the day is: 'caisson'

haha ya my bad. Ive just been keeping an eye on the construction around there and they dug a fairly deep and wide hole. Didnt see anything interesting in it. But was curious what that big of a hole was for.

That's what it's all about team work....more heads together the better imo....as long as everyone is on the same page haha.
I'm with you on the sickness it's almost an addiction every time I see a whole in the ground or abandoned building I'm all over it haha, I just wish I was into this a couple years ago when the gcg crew was in full effect!

Not at all, lol. You guys are finding amazing stuff. Man, the vertical ladder drain in #3 is tight. Wonder what's down there. Always be air aware! [BE AWAIR] A place in town rents detectors. PM if interested in details. I think they've come way down in price though. Ninja Klutz bought one, then sold I think.

I think you can get these really cheap detectors for about 50$ a pop, where each one detects a certain gas. Downside is they only last a couple years. I can't think of the name right now, but Luigi could probably tell you.

Or your could ask Peterman where he got his.
On a side note, I can't believe this thread is 10 years old, and still kicks.

Thanks man we are trying! Ya we are playing it super safe. Only looking for now. Once we find what we are looking for we will look into the detectors. We have always been the type to research a spot as much as possible before entering.
We should definitely get together some time to talk tunnels and what not though.

Posted by Luigi Anyone know anything about portable air monitoring devices for confined spaces? Anyone know the best model/brand to buy? Don't want to pay too much, but want something I know will work.
While I'm on the topic anyone have any safety tips/bad experiences to learn from?

Yeah, I got three Honeywell BW Clip 2 Year Single Gas Detectors CO2/H2S/O2.
I ordered my monitors off of gassniffer.com "sale price" of $99.00 plus taxes and duties, I think in the end I still got a better deal than from a local dealer, that being said if I were to do it again I may try harder to find a local dealer to go through. The advantage of these monitors other than the price, is a monkey could operate it, there is no need for calibration/calibration gas, no need for charging the battery, you have a high level and low level alarm it displays the percentages when the alarm is sounding, you have a visual LED, vibrating, and audible alarm. Although according to gassniffer.com most in industry don't with the disposable monitors, you do have the ability to bump test it with calibration gas.
Definitely recommend the Honeywell BW clip single monitors and Honeywell in general.
Had the low level O2 alarm go off a couple times now.
Would be interested to know what Peterman invested in, I may want to upgrade in the future, or if anyone else has input on air monitoring devices I would be interested.
