I'm back in the saddle again.
entry by The Hitman's Daughter

yawn.
so i'm back in ottawa.
i've got a new job. wait. make that two new jobs.
new apartment.
impending wedding of doom.
impending gigantic canadian citizenship fees of doom.
i'm finally just getting comfortable being back here. it's weird how things change, people change, you change, after being gone for a while.

Mutt's organizing an ottawa meet tomorrow night. Should be fun. I haven't even met most of the other explorers from around this area.

oh, and we're getting a cat as soon as we come back from Dallas next month (wow is it really that soon? whoa.) and I'm looking forward to that. I can stop stealing the downstairs neighbour's cat.

I'll post some new apartment photos soon. For now you can gaze upon this exciting picture of me sitting in a window thing. wooooo. *spooky hand gestures*

Cats are awesome. Unless you keep them trapped indoors. Then they pee everywhere.

Sometimes, you need to march right in and demand your rights, even if you don't know what your rights are, or who it is you're talking to. Then, on your way out, slam the door.

well it's going to be an indoors cat since i don't want it to die like our neighbour's last outdoor cat. I donno. If it starts peeing everywhere I guess I'll have to cross that bridge when I come to it. Female cats don't generally tend to though, nor do neutred males.

I say let it out. All indoor cats I've seen are unhealthy and mean.

Think of it this way. If you were a cat, would you rather be an indoor-only, or would you rather come and go as you please?

I am afraid to let it out. There is an abnormal amount of "missing cat" posters on our street. And our downstairs neighbor's cat was just found outside, dead, last month. But yeah I know what you mean. My whole life I've had cats and they've always been in/out cats.

I've never lived in a city where cats were in any real danger, so I can't really relate.

Is there a shady Chinese restaurant in your area? That might be the cause of all the lost cats.

I bet General Tso's chicken was batting around a rubber mouse the day before!

ottawa's chinatown...mmm. i miss the soup. montreal's pho places just aren't as good.

if you ever feel like venturing further west down wellington/somerset, on wellington near holland there's a restaurant called the spring roll house that i highly recommend. guaranteed cat free.

if you have any semblance of backyard, why don't you buy your cat a harness and let it out on a leash? that's what we do - it seems strange at first but the cat loves it.

After our first 13 or so cats got run over by traffic (in the course of 16 years, once 2 on the same day, fortunately I can't remember) we decided on a cat-free period, but some friends of us tricked us into getting new cats.

They're race cats (British short hair), and they are very lazy. What they like best is sitting in the window watching everything going on outside. Sometimes they don't get outside all day except for 2 short trips to the "toilet" (=garden). We have 'em for 5 years now and hardly ever see them near the road, especially not at night.

I just called my sister, and we were chitchatting a bit. After a while she told me that the cats were so sweet, Asha was licking* Grijs. Then she shouted "Stop that! Grijs! Quit it!" because Grijs didn't like the licking and she pawed to Asha, Asha then clawed Grijs and cat hair was flying trough the air.

They're so sweet...
