There is an airplane at the Oshawa airport. It's this huge colourful (blue, yellow and red if I remember) taildragger. I saw it a while back, and I can't figure out what it is. I think it had 1 or 3 engines. It's at the far right side of the airport, by a hanger, and you can see it from Thornton (?) Road.
It could be one of the Ford Tri - Motors (yeah, Ford built aircraft in the early days). Did it look like it had some years on it?

i agree with you there, i was just stating that radials produce a lot of power i was just to lazy to type out what you just did.

The largest hp radial engine saw was the 3300 hp engines they fitted to the last of the B-29's.

I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread.

Actually, I went back and saw the one at Oshawa. It's an AN-2. There are 2 of them. Oshawa also has a number of DC-3/BT-67s flying in and out. Thanks for the suggestions though!

Though maybe unrelated, we recently had an AN-2 at Moontown, our dirt strip. I remember I had to fuel it one sunday, and it required climbing up the back and scooting across the top wing. I asked the owner and he said it cruised around 120kias and burned almost 60 gallons an hour. They where using it for some kind of testing, and I here they are good uutility planes. Lots of space in the back!

its a VVA-14 with its wings cut off

http://www.testpil...tini/vva/vva_e.htm

its not a Caspian sea monster or ground effect vehicle, which can only fly in ground effect, this thing was capable of producing its own lift and flying at high altitudes
