Hi everyone, I'm new to the community but not new to urbex. Here is an abandoned greyhound track I visited last month in southwest Florida.

Very cool! This is the third such track I've heard of in the last few months. Maybe it's the frequency illusion at play but it seems like lots of greyhound racing tracks are getting abandoned in the last few years- maybe the sport is declining?

"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there.

Thank you! You're right that these are becoming more common - the sport was outlawed and there are only two active tracks left in the US.

There's something neat about these old tracks. There used to be an amazing track outside of Phoenix, it was a real jewel to explore.

Keep digging into the history in your area and I bet you'll find some well preserved gems from the 1960s-80s.

Here is a little history about the track in Arizona- https://www.phoeni...com/photo-gallery/

I actually didn't spend very much time indoors. On my way in while walking across the parking lot, I got busted by the two owners (or representatives of the property, I'm not sure). They saw I was only interested in taking photos and allowed me to explore on the condition I didn't go inside, they said they were concerned about liability if I were to get injured, etc. As the photos show, I did push the boundary a little bit once I was out of sight but generally stuck to my word as they were very nice to not immediately chase me away. I'll have to go back for a second visit sometime, I live in Tampa so it's a little bit of a drive but that place is absolutely worth it!

Thanks for this, those photos are awesome.

There's another track a bit closer to me but I haven't tried exploring it yet. The parking lot is used as storage for Amazon vans and Penske trucks, there's quite a high level of activity. Hopefully someday soon!

Unfortunate news, it seems they've begun demolishing the property. I drove by yesterday hoping to sneak in again.
