Anyone here take their RVs to explorations? I recently picked up a class A for pretty cheap, it needs work but nothing beyond what I'm capable of.

I've been thinking an urbex road trip would be awesome when it is roadworthy, was wondering if anyone else has done this. Stories and pics are welcome

I haven't done it yet, but one of my long term goals is to outfit a camper or a microvan as an urbex vehicle, maybe get a minibike for mountainous offroading. Put a cot, folding desk, and the minibike in the back, maybe a camp stove cooking area if I have space, get a work-from-home job and outfit the van with a satellite internet connection and batteries, and I'll be able to go on urbex expeditions for weeks at a time without needing time off work.

I haven't found a van that balances space and gas mileage the way I want it yet, I don't have a remote work job, and I don't own a minibike - but maybe someday I'll get there.

Some fellow explorers and I have talked about maybe someday doing that same thing but with a school bus convert, but of course cost and complications both increase with more people and a larger vehicle, and none of us are at a point in our career where that's viable yet.

This is a really cool idea, I love that idea of having a portable vehicle with the camper. Would be cool to travel and explore for a few weeks, then drive back home afterwards. Spensive' for sure though

sounds like you're living the dream. Never exactly put two and two together, but I love Urbex, and I love campers. A camper would truly be the best vehicle for it, especially if equipped with some sort of motorbike (or at least a bicycle) like one of the users above said.

I like your setup; I have a similar idea but with a fat tire ebike instead of a minibike. Not sure how often the better off-road capabilities of a dirt bike would be needed; for me the stealth of an ebike seems more important. I'd be interested to know if other urbexers are using ebikes; I find them very useful.

Yes, I've done it with my old vanagon. It's super nice to camp near the places. It makes it easier to go there early in the morning too.
Main downside is fuel cost.
