| So I took my camera, and my 16MB CF card (Shudder) and went to see what I could find in Welland. This place is bigger than I originally thought, but not by much. I went out on my bike, and almost immediately noticed a LOT more foot traffic than I expected. Apparently there's a festival of some kind in Merritt park, so I follow the flow of people, until I get to the park, where there's a huge sign saying 'No Cars or Bikes'... so I hang a quick right, past the 'No Trespassing' sign that we all ignore as a matter of course. Do a double take, look back at the barbed wire fence, shrug, lock the bike, and get out the camera :0)
I explored as much as I could, the one door that I was able to open, only led to some pipes...unless you want to go for a swim in some frighteningly green water.
So I wandered the grounds snapping pics.

Then I biked around randomly, and managed to, in short order, run across three of the UEDB locations for Welland... and one of them was so far gone, that I biked through part of the building.
Now I'm going out sans camera to have a look around.

Now if only PSX would get online so I can give her money, so she can buy me a new CF card...
[edit 2] Just thought I'd add: while I was walking home last night, I was on the sidewalk, walking towards an intersection, and there's a middle aged woman walking towards me. I glance at her, she looks normal, nice enough. I move a little to the right as I walk, so she can get by (there's some major construction going on, and the sidewalks fairly cramped in some places). As soon as she passes me, she starts laughing like a maniac. And she didn't have a cellphone, or headphones on... Fuckin weird people. The longer I spend here, the more I feel like most of the town is giving of a kind of urban redneck vibe. Bah. I need a car.
