I'm not talking "yeah I couldn't get in so" I'm talking about not being able to get out.. I was smokin' in a dressing room like halfway through an exploration and somehow the door was locked from the outside (probably was locked prior and we didn't realize as we closed the door). My friend and I were freaking out it was like 3 AM. The door was a wooden door like a closet door with the slits in it, it didn't have that gap at the bottom. Ended up kicking the bottom few slits out so we could get out, and it kind of sucked because it was one of the only intact dressing room doors left in that room. We live and learn, started checking locks on doors and shit. Just a funny story I remembered and I'm sure some of you reading may have similar experiences.

Happened to me about a week or two ago inside an abandoned headquarters building. We entered through the top floor by climbing onto the roof and worked our way down from inside. We eventually made it to the security room in the very back on the bottom floor and funnily enough, the door was secured shut with a cable lock, but there was enough slack in the cable that we were able to simply pull it off of the door knob. We went in and walked around a little bit and when it came time for us to move on, the door we came through wouldn't budge. The doorknob would turn, but the door was locked from the other side. We spent the next couple seconds (which felt like an eternity) in complete panic. Usually my group is pretty talkative, but we were stunned silent. We quickly realized that we had no other choice but to break the window on the door with a Maglite so we could reach through and turn the knob from the other side. Not my proudest moment, and I felt kinda stupid afterward for even letting that happen, but that was probably the most claustrophobic moment of my life. If that door didn't have a window on it, we could have been trapped. Ever since then I've been very mindful of letting doors close behind me.

I have always been wary of doors one time my friend pushed on a door and it triggered a silent alarm and I got caught. From then on, I always looked at the top part of it, and I always slide something between any doors I go through. I never trust doors in any place unless it is an open and blown-out spot.

Whenever we're out splorin I always bring one of those cheap Fred Myers/Coleman glow in the dark compasses for that exact reason, if you wave it across the top and side of the door and it starts freaking out there's a good chance there's a magnetic alarm on the other side and it's time to try the window

As for breaking things I've never done such a thing, but I also haven't met any of your terrifying self-closing doors before.
