Guess what: today I will take you to Finnish nature… in search for old quarries. I've been lately tried to locate old quarries that were use somewhere between 1700s and early 1900s. Takes lot of walking deep into woods and many times without any results, but sometimes I’ve hit the right place… which feels good because there are almost any information about these anywhere.

That quartz quarry was really old one, mined old style with burning fire and and then colding heated stone with water. Hard to even imagine how hart job it have been – it have taken lot of wood and also water. Here nearest small pond were maybe 200 meters away, but I can tell that in that terrain it did feel much longer even with carrying just tripod with camera. Also taking that quartz away must have been… I mean even today closest small road is over kilometer away and in old times it have been way farer.

But then that second one, actually two of them. I did find small piece of information about limestone quarry… so one saturday morning it was time for that. And there definitely were limestone quarries. First one were small but still impressive... but that second one... it really was amazing. Maybe just 15 meters wide, but one wall were amazing high vertical wall. That did look pretty fragile by the way, which did make photographing under huge leaps quite interesting. Sad that I didn’t get it in photos well enough, but there’s good reason to return someday.

And today’s off-topic-bonus-shot comes from the national park of Torronsuo. Long time since my last spring/summer visit – especially this Covid time have run people crazy and when few years ago it was rare to see anyone there, today parking place is almost always so full that it would be hard to get car parked… and because I search from nature human free peace I definitely won’t get anything from that ”more people than in shopping mall" kind of madness.

Anyway, it seems that tuesday morning at 4:00 clock was good choise. Few cars at parking lot of course, but nobody in the tower, so I did get my loneliness!

Hopefully you didn’t get pissed off by this ”not so urban" post, but if you did I can tell you that I probably feel much worst now: next tuesday my creative freedom will end and I will get back to work. Good for money situation, but really, really, really bad for my heart and head.

Interesting post. I was kind of neutral on most of the photos, I do really like the last one though!

Yeah, and overall something bit different, lot of nature and so. But thank you very much! And I'm pretty sure off-topic-bonus-shots will get better - last night I did get to my Paradise waking at 3 a clock at night and morning was... should I say with 17 years experience 7/10 quality... which was pretty good. Keep watching.
