Over the last month I made two separate visits to this old nursing home. This particular facility served as the geriatric and end of life care satellite facility for the main local hospital until its abandonment in 2011. By far one of the coolest features was the chapel, beat up though it was.

Though the beds were gone the privacy curtains were still up in most of the patient rooms.

On the other side of the building from the chapel were a large lounge for group events and a recreational rehab facility, presumably to help patients relearn how to do recreational tasks after strokes or other brain damaging illnesses.

There were also some other interesting rooms scattered around the first floor, like the kitchen, some offices, and a small homeless squat.

Oh, and the biohazardous waste/used needles. Can't forget that.

All in all, a very cool exploration. Unfortunately local kids have been messing the place up more and more lately- there was new damage to the chapel in between my first and second visit, which were only two weeks apart. At this rate I suspect its days are numbered so I'm glad I got in when I did.
