Howdy ya'll!
I recently went draining with a friend of mine, and this is one of the more impressive drains we've been in! Granted, I've only drained three times now, but still!
We started out by hoping into this small little 'entrance pit,' which I'm guessing used to be a room but collapsed.
And we turned to see the entrance, the only thing between us and it was a pool of water!
Quite a fancy entrance I think, with the plethora of graffiti. But that's neither here nor there. I had previously bought some water proof boots, so I was good to cross, but my friend had no such gear. Thankfully, I had brought four trash bags to wrap around his legs! He looked rather silly I thought, as he moved across the pool.
Thats when we realized that the water was deeper than the bags. And, to make matters worse, my boots were shorter than the bags. Despite this, we decided to brave onward, and he made the crossing while I equipped my own silly feet protection, with my smaller boots underneath.
The next parts a bit of a photo dump, at least until the end, where it'll be mostly text. Here's some shots from our adventure:
And that^ was as far as we went. It was a fun time, we saw waaaay more variants of pipes than I had ever seen in my life, and it was now time to head back. However, we had made it to a sizable room with no graffiti! And I happened to bring along some white chalk!
Now, please tell me if this goes against the 'leave nothing but footprints' mantra, cause if it does I will never do this again, but I figured that, since it was chalk and would wash away, it wouldn't do any harm.
AND HOLY MOLY was it fun! I get now why people use spray paint; there's just something about drawing a dick on the wall of a concrete structure.
And with that, we decided to head back. However, we wanted to end the adventure with a bang, by popping a manhole cover to make our exit. We found one that we confirmed wasn't on a road by looking through it, and then we popped it off.
After we confirmed that we could pop it off, we removed our fancy foot protection, as we no longer had to walk through the pool of water, and climbed up. My friend went first, and he climbed up and popped out.
This is when 'shit hit the fan,' and why I don't have any photos past this event.
I assumed something was off when my buddy didn't come back to grab my backpack, and didn't answer my shouts to do so. I grumbled and guessed that he was trying to act casual due to people up top, so I threw my backpack out and climbed after it.
And that's how I accidentally broke into an outdoor storage facility!
Turns out my friend had looked around, and noticed that we were surrounded by barbed wire, and ran to the nearest pile of wood for cover. I saw this, and dashed over. We assessed the situation:
We could go back down and head through the pool of water, but we didn't have our feet protection. Now we both agreed we could head back down, but we decided it would be a lot more fun to try to escape the hard way, by not heading back into the storm drains!
So we decided to climb the fences. Thankfully, no one was around, so we dashed over to the fences. My buddy climbed and jumped, and I passed him the backpack. I was able to find a small hole where the fence peeled up from the ground, so I opted for that exit.
Hoping no one saw us, we swiftly walked to our car, and made our escape!
