The Year in Photos: A Look Back at 2020

Just a collection of some of my favorite shots of 2020. Just about every place I explored this year is represented here.
Despite 2020 being a weird year and my drive to explore not being what it once was, I still got to see interesting and varied collection of locations during the past 12 months.

Some highlights:

A brutal hike through waist deep snow to explore a former orphanage turned summer camp

Exploring my first theme park

Finally getting to see a famous and notoriously risky asylum before it completely falls apart

Getting permission to explore a resort I had been wanting for years, as renovations were just beginning

My favorite location of the year? A time capsule laundromat/dry cleaners in a small town. The place was so unique, filled with everything from garments still on racks, wedding dresses in the process of being repaired and antique dry cleaning equipment. The place was nearly untouched, with decay beginning to set in and some really killer lighting.

Here was my 2020, in photos:

If happy times are to few and far between
It's a pity dear, we can't erase the things we've seen

Razor's Edge

Anyone know where I can find some powder?

I'm turnin' the tables on you
You've been playin' dirty pool

Maple Syrup Folks

"So what!? So let's dance!"

Leave It To Cleaver

Sometimes You Have To Work On Christmas

White Flight

Y'all got any of that Farmer John cheese?

I'm findin' it hard to believe
We're in heaven

Sing this song when I am gone
I'll be in every word

In the mornin' you go gunnin' for the man who stole your water

Wherever you are
I hope you read the words I've written in the stars

Paintball Duel at High Noon

Holes in this house
There's some holes in this house

Ferris Wheel's Day Off

Well, always on this roller coaster
If you want me why can't you get closer

Fly by night, away from here

What? Cuz I been in the lab with a pen and a pad?

Coming Out of 2020 Like:

Day's dawning, skin's crawling
Pure morning

Gymatorium Green

Silk suit, black tie
I don't need a reason why

All Dressed Up

Just leave well enough alone
Eat your dirty laundry

Take a look, it's in a book

A Scanner Darkly

You get a phone call from the queen with a hundred heads
She says that they're all dead

I see the red steps and I want them painted black

"Did you eat a lot of paint chips when you were a kid?"

Pool Snake

Legoland Auditorium

When the world falls apart
I will hold you in my arms like a friend

Globalism

God is a DJ

You can take all the tea in China
Put it in a big brown bag for me

Partially Pilfered Pews

"County Morgue, you stab 'em, we slab 'em"

"Winning an argument with a genius is difficult. Winning an argument with a idiot is impossible"

So would you be my ghost tonight?
I will bring you back to life

If it weren't for all the people I'd be all alone
Rock me baby, rock me baby all night long

Hell yes man! Lovely compilation. So glad we were able to safely get together as much as we did this year. Looking forward to more adventures in 2021.

I still can't get over how incredible something as mundane as an abandoned laundromat can be, that would be my favourite too.

Thanks man!! Yea the lad was really cool, one of the most intact ones I've seen. This building actually had a number of labs, but this one was probably the most intact.

I think I know one of the first places you are going to want to see next time you're over on this side of the pond lol.

Your two favorites also happen to be the most structurally unsafe locations I did this year lol. The second floor collapsed on the house at some point between May and August. The asylum has not fared well this winter and has suffered some major collapses. That one really won't be safe to explore for much longer.

I'm glad you like my captions! I have fun making them, although sometimes it takes me awhile to come up with something for some of my shots.
