First thread; introductories

I will retain this journal mostly as an internal log, noting down ideas, approaches, plans/execution for future urbex'es, as well as keeping a well-formed list and index of each respective location where applicable.

This will likely be a very dry read, as it will moreso reflect my ramblings and thoughts - often mistaken at first or il-advised, but should reflect a form a clarification over time leading me to the given goal of exploring every last cavity and documenting any remains, the current conditions and any findings or possible history/information associated with such.

About me - I am an residential/commercial HVAC technician here in the Southeast, which can lead to some peculiar locations especially dealing with residents who may be renting a space remotely from another state, or in commercial applications where it is either a necessity or a professional courtesy to be working behind the scenes, as unobtrusively as possible. When it comes to working in the field, I am only ever in locations where I have explicit permission to be in said space and am there simply to complete the job.

This also means that I get access to opportunities to see interesting locations that not everyone gets to, as I have a genuine reason and need to. I genuinely do enjoy my job for that, as I get to walk into these situations with no questions asked nor any risk. No officer looks twice at the guy in a blue button up on the roof of the abandoned appearing (unoccupied by tenant would be better wording) warehouse, as I am just doing my job, while still having fun.

The biggest factor I would say is relevant in this setting (a functioning environment with people present where you are trying to avoid suspicion) is to ALYB. Appearing to have a purpose and not giving people the chance to question you is by far the biggest first step.

That to me is what urbex is all about - being able to explore and experience as many different settings, lifestyles, locations, and sights as humanly possible in a given space. Abandoned or not.

This windshield time during work also allows me to find plenty of spots, especially with the help of google maps/earth. Off work is when I do the abandoned building explorations, often times found while I was driving the big white E250 around.

Thats a little about me and how I find these locations as well as what I enjoy, as we all have our pleasures. I happen to be on rooftops around ATL multiple times a month, and yet variety is where its all at.
