howdy, just created my first post in the more general thread and am now hoping to get some photo critique. in the most basic sense, i am familiar with the settings on my dslr (canon 80d) but have no formal training or anything in shooting or editing. unfortunately with a transfer to a new computer i don't have the exact setting i took these photos with, but would love some tips on composition, editing, and how to preserve image quality. what's the best way to download photos to preserve quality? also, is making the images this large annoying and if so can someone explain how to make them smaller (i read the thread but still don't understand ahhh)?

Hi there! Can't comment much on the composition as it all comes down to what you want to show. The only thing I have to say is that the second one could be levelled out a little more, and I'd crop out the object in the foreground to the left, as the bright reflection draws the eye there instead of to the subject (the room).

Most of us here use Flickr as an image host, as UER's built-in 100kb limit is quite restrictive. You can store up to 1000 images for free, there's little to no compression, and you can choose your desired resolution in the links you share. What program do you use to edit? Photoshop/Lightroom will allow you to set your resolution and compression as you wish.

The display size of the two you posted is fine. You could even go bigger if you wanted, so long as it doesn't stretch the page.

first shoot raw , you can color correct and do several things there at least initially, such as zeroing out contrast before you start layer work in PS. Some use lightroom raw and go from there

As the previous posts say flickr is usually the go-to for uploading images would recommend Aurorahdr(photoshop ofc too and if you go to uni it's free so why not. For the shots, 1st shot is nice maybe try experimenting with a different angle and also level the shot, use the boxes if need be (it helps in my opinion). 2nd shot is good could use with a bit more natural light, maybe even whip out the tripod for this not required though.
