I'm familiar with the 3 main variations of bowling in the U.S..

So I come upon this none of the above type of bowling in LDB:

These pins are rectangular. Does this have a name? The LDB entry calls it duckpin, but those aren't duckpins.

This is the location:

I have never been able to figure this out... I grew up with candlepin and didn't even know that ten-pin was a thing until I was like 15 because of how prevalent candlepin is in much of southeastern Massachusetts. Never seen rectangular pins besides here.

Place was called "Down Under Duckpin" but that is 10000% not even remotely close to duckpin style....

CT has Duckpin, MA, has Candlepin, and RI has this? I have been googling my hardest but I can't find anything as to the origins of a rectangular pin. I thought I was getting close with rubber band pins but still nothing. I'll keep searching around because I'm invested now.

Don't feel bad, I'm hitting the same dead ends as well. I've always fancied myself as having a black belt in Googling, but the way this is going, a sensei may come and take my belt away.

I found this picture of the same location on another site and it appears they also had duckpins in addition to these rectangular pins.

So I came across the blog bowlingbook.wordpress.com and contacted the owner who seems to think my suspicion of these "pins" being painted 2x4s is more likely than a one off rectangular pin setup. Someone probably whipped up a whole bunch of these to bowl at the large party/concert that was hosted here or just wanted to bowl some extra games.
