Hello everyone. I'm a new member and this is my first post.

Recently I've been spending some time in Chatham, Ontario and I wanted to share a place that I found while exploring by bike. These pictures were taken Sept-Oct 2019. I'm sure it's already on the database but I don't know for sure cos I'm not a full member. From my understanding it was a brick and tile factory that was abandoned in the 70's. The best part is the "shipwreck" of a dredge apparently used for dredging the Thames River back in the 60's. I got this information from an older gentleman I've met several times walking around the forest. Please correct me if I'm wrong or if you have any more information on this spot. I'd love to hear it.

This spot is very close to another popular location, Darlings Rendering Plant or "The Glue Factory" as the locals call it. I enjoy checking that spot out too, and I'll cover it in another post. Thanks for looking ;)

I could have swore this was on the database but i can't seem to find it for whatever reason. Weird. When i first visited here as a teenager in the late 90's the property was littered with 100's of old trucks and vehicles. A massive clean up took place a couple years back and most of the metal was hauled off to scrap. "Large Marge The Barge" as locals know it was/is the center point and hang out party spot. Now junkies live in and around it adding a sketch factor to this location at night or in the dark. The brickyard as i know it was the site of a horrendous murder in 1995 where a 7 year old boy was beaten to death and the killer subsequently sentenced to life in prison. The "black bridge", a large abandoned train crossing is another part of this property as well. This was one of my first explore locations over 20 years ago now, and the first place i brought my son exploring. Holy shit that makes me feel old as fack. Welcome to the site.

I saw a couple YouTube videos where there was all that stuff before the clean up and I was a little jealous. And I never knew the nickname for the barge, cool. I really appreciate the info and that's awesome that brought your kid there. Cheers!
