I don't see felony trespass sticking if all they did was climb a crane.

Unless they damaged property getting in there.

Probably did not do there due diligence scouting the site. Then again its the chance we take some times.

From what I understand, Florida has some insanely punitive laws against trespassing. I'd much rather do it here where a judge throws it out if the site is low key.

If I am doing something sketchy like this I have a buddy or two sit outside the site as a lookout, they do not enter. We carry 2 way and they let me know if something is up and we need to ditch.

Its only for the places that could have security. The peace of mind it brings makes an exploration more relaxing.

That said I would still climb a crane if given the chance. Now I wana do it.

Two way radios are a great idea, might utilize that in the future. I just moved close to a big city, and man was I surprised by the bump up in construction security around here. Back in the small town midwest, any crane you could see had pretty much no eyes on it, sometimes not even a wooden wall around the base. Here, I had to hold my breath and freeze while climbing over a razorwire-topped wall as a guard walked by several feet under me... not exactly what I was used to. Higher risk, but higher reward - looking down on skyscrapers is new to me

I have indeed climbed more than one crane, but can honestly say that I’ve never taken a selfie while doing so. Definitely not a published one, lol.

Me and heights don’t mix so I’d never be doing that haha

Police say they responded to the 600 block of Gulfstream Avenue around 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday. According to reports, they received a call from a security operator that two men, 18-year-old Thomas Jefferson of Sarasota and 25-year-old Javiar Vargas of Tampa were on the ladder of the crane. According to police, the security operator issued several trespass warnings to both men over the P.A. system, but they did not listen to him.

Notice that when they say "spotted" in this video, they mean that software did the spotting then notified a human operator to watch the recorded motion. This software is not only motion sensing but can detect loitering behavior as well. Cameras and motion sensors and guards aren't really separate things anymore, they rolled all three into one. Oh and these companies don't fuck around with the 911 system, they have direct lines to police dispatch, cutting several minutes from response times.

This, and the growing popularity of Instagramers with an iPhone looking for clicks and likes, is why I have not climbed a crane in the last couple years and might never climb another one again. I also suspect the latter is also at least partly to blame for the former in some of these kinds of locations.
