Here we go again!

The planning and research were done over two days, 1st finding the location, then a few hours in the field.

I thought I would share the process that I use for newcomers or veterans alike, its fun to document and some of you seemed to enjoy it.

My first post is can be found here, again on the topic of finding locations to explore.

This time we are going to use the power of the internet! Again, its not a spectacular find but its real world stuff so i make no excuses.

Lets start with google

Nothing caught my eye, plus its a super obvious search term, it cant be this easy right?

Watch nature devour Raleigh Neighborhood! <-- worth a watch

Looks interesting, do they mention a location? Why yes they do Barry, yes they do. Lets get an idea of the area they are talking about

Now its satellite imagery time. This can be time consuming zooming in, looking for possible locations. Fortunately the area is not large.

This is what we are dealing with at high zoom, nothing remarkable here. Lets keep looking.

This is much more like it. Lets look from another angle

I think the fallen tree we see in the satellite is literally the one in the YouTube video.

I think we found it. Yay me!

Time to look at the site carefully. Sylvia dean is obviously a good place to scout but we also have the railroad tracks if we need a quiet entrance. Lots of good parking.

This is what we find when we get there

I was disappointed at first but never judge a site to quickly. You just never know, lets see what this place has for us!

The site was active but there was not a person in sight. I had a lot of fun climbing in the equipment. They had left the keys one of the excavators but while I can get away with exploring, I might not get away with the latter if caught.

Mud up to my angles! I did nose around in some of the buildings but nothing of note.

I was on my way out when I came across this, I will let you use your imagination and perhaps speculate as to what it is.

These stories/tutorials are nice man. Great way to be inclusive of new people and teach them the ways without just handing them locations.
