Well i must admit Shiey has some funny moments in his videos BUT its very VERY easy to find out places from his videos and thats not a good thing (places very soon get demolished etc). Altough he is not mentioning exact locations in his videos, its wayyyyy too easy to do find them, within 5 minutes of google maps streetview small research, many locations are served on a plate..

Anyway, i hope ukrainians (or whatever did that) will stop burning the dry grass (its a stupid tradition from the Soviet times, still some stupid people are doing it around all post USSR countries). It causes a great damage to animals and trees.

This is a (suspected) intentional fire that was started by some dipshit in his mid-twenties (allegedly). He is already in custody and sounds like he already admitted to starting the fire. Evidently, this fire isn't this guy's first arson run - although it's almost guaranteed to be his most destructive.

Glad to hear he's in custody at least, the amount of damage and the spread of the fire was pretty scary. It's lucky that the rain came and that things weren't worse.

Funny you talk about that cause i just watched the 2h30 video last night.

Actually Shiey was just a "tourist" in that explore, Anton was for him just a random guy.
Anton IS the great stalker with the knowledge and experience, without him they would have been caught 100%.

Still the video was cool. It sucks that there is so much tourism that you can't almost not explore the place in daylight as a stalker.

I hope one day i can do the same trip one day

Yeah I mean even Shiey said it himself; he would have definitely been caught without Anton because Anton knows vital info like when / where security and tourists frequent and Shiey would just go exploring everywhere and anytime if Anton wasn't around to tell him xyz isn't safe.

We had a discussion recently about whether there is an international tagger version of UER where they share information about sites to hit. Imagine if there were some sort of Arson Resource website for arsonists to share advice about arson and had a location database of their own. And also they have a Full Member system and their own ethics system.

hahaha imagine alternate universe UAR - Urban arsonist resource. TO be an FM you have to show you can destroy locations on your own. Even better if it makes it on the news. Urban explorer joins accidentally and is tattled on and banned because he only took pictures- "i've just been by it, and it is still standing!" "make sure when you leave a location, location is gone!" "what do you mean you dont carry matches around! because of people like you....." They also have monthly meetups. Noobs bring lighters. Senor members show off different models of blowtorches and flamethrowers. And their motto is leave nothing but ashes, take all you can carry=)))

as a sidebar and one of the weirder twists I've ever come across is that you would be utterly stunned to know how many arsonists (at least here) are also volunteer firemen.

To the point that they are sometimes referred to as Volunteer Fire Starters.

I used to belong to the VFD when I lived in the Catskills and every time there's a suspicious fire, the first people the fire marshal interviews are the VFD members that responded to the fire.

I think he means Upstate NY just like where was the case when I was in the VFD in Upstate NY.

Although Samurai is much further Upstate than I was.

Back in ye olde days in NYC, the explorers of the time like myself would frequently cross paths with the graffiti writers to the extent of being on a first-name basis with some of them and even getting invited to Mike and Katie's wedding.

Sorry, Steed... I should've clarified. The area where I live was what I meant.

Good, I was hoping we don't have too many arsonists, and thus volunteer firefighters, on here.

Sure thing!

One on the things about the graffiti world is the language and the great ones hardly ever post anything.

Like Warren Buffett on Twitter has millions of followers and only 5 tweets.

Yesterday was the 34th anniversary of the Chernobyl Disaster.

Last night, a friend of mine who is a nuclear physicist and whose father worked as an engineer on the Chernobyl Reactor called me to have a short conversation.

Nowhere in the conversation was Chernobyl mentioned, but I could see why he would want to talk to someone that doesn't want to talk about 26 April 1986.

They built a sarcophagus (basically they entombed it) around reactor #4 which is the one that had the meltdown back in the 80's. The concern was that the radiation that contaminated the area during the actual event would become air-born when the fires broke out and cause those radioactive particles to be carried farther out through the smoke/wind - to somewhere like Kiev, for example.

The entire area will remain highly radioactive for the foreseeable future.

Lots of info that isn't Wikipedia:
