Abandoned Adolf Hitler Memorial - Wisconsin

Hello everyone! This is my first post on this site, and I hope it is a new, interesting find to the Great Lakes UrbEx Community! I would like to first state that I do not agree with any of the ideas presented by these images, and my apologies in advance if this is offensive to anyone in the community.

As the title suggests, some friends and I stumbled across an abandoned Adolf Hitler Memorial/Museum. I will not be giving the location, but RoadSideAmerica did a short article about the property if you want to read about it.

Short summary of the article: An German WWII soldier immigrated to the US in 1955 and decided at the age of 87 that he wanted to build a memorial/museum to Adolf Hitler next to his home. As you can imagine, small-town Wisconsin was not for this, and the man was never aloud to open the attraction. It sits abandoned along with his home in practically the middle of nowhere.

1. Initial approach from the woods showing the first building on the property.

2.

The next two pictures are inside the actual museum/memorial. There isn't much in there (lots of trash and textbooks). However, these two boards are still hung on the back wall.

3.

4.

5. Looking out the doors onto the property. Honestly, the whole area is serene, and it's too bad what became of the land.

6. The next several images are of the man's home. Again FILLED with strange documents, old clothes, VHS porn, etc.

7.

8.

9.

10.

11.

12.

13. The last part of the property that we could explore was on top of the memorial. It is a large open area that overlooks the pond and has a few very large messages hung on the wall.

14.

15.

16.

17. Honestly this was tough to see. Behind the wall, an extremely large swastika could be operated by a winch and would raise above the wall.

Being at this place felt like a bad dream. The fact that it exists so close to home hits me differently. Again, I don't agree with any of the ideas shown in these images, but this was a very interesting explore to say the least.

Cheers,

Always question the context.

Place is always a sobering reminder to see. Never quite get used to reading the things written on the walls.

Curious that the Swastika is on a winch. Wonder if he intended to only raise it on noteworthy occasions, given that he didn't seem to otherwise have a reason to take it down.

I was wondering the same thing. I think the ceremonial idea is spot on, or it could just be for general concealment. With the swastika not raised, the building looks pretty normal from a distance!

The swastika was still there? When I visited the building was still covered in undergrowth so I didn't see it and thought it was stolen. Huh.

"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there.

This spot is fairly well-known.

It got global media coverage when he tried to have a grand opening in 2006.

The guy that built it was a Waffen SS veteran from Romania. He died in 2013.

His website is still up and someone is paying the taxes on this place. Obviously someone takes this guy's legacy seriously.

It's a really nice piece of land! I knew about the RoadsideAmerica article, but had never seen pictures of it on this site or other urbex forums.

In the house there were letters all over the place addressed from various neo-Nazi groups. I'm aware this is not the only attempt at a Hitler Monument in the US, but it was weird to read letters from Americans who supported this guy's cause!

Apparently, the property is still in the family. It is listed as owned by an LLC.

I researched the LLC and goes to a 71 year old woman that lives in Elkhorn, WI.

In addition to the Little Nuremberg featured above, that same LLC also owns these adjoining properties:
