Hi I'm thatsagreatusername, I'm 14 from Toronto and I'm a relatively new urbexer. I've been lightly exploring for the past year. Ive done some of the DVP bridges, multiple storm drains, and a few abandoned buildings. I found out about urban exploring from Youtube and I instantly got hooked, i was amazed by this other world that can be accessed by anyone as long as they know where to look. The point of me making this is just to officially say hello and hopefully have a good conversation with others and to maybe get some recommendations of where I should go next.

You're 14, legally a child... So don't expect too much friendly camaraderie here.
Trespassing on it's own isn't a serious crime, but if someone was caught exploring with you they'd be liable for 'endangering a minor' or 'contributing to the delinquency of a minor'.

But hey, contribute some cool stuff and maybe people can overlook your age.

Ignore the criticism buddy, you've probably done more this year than most have in the past decade :p

You have a LOT of time ahead of you before you're legally an adult, meaning that it's basically open season for the next 4 years. Do as much as you can, solo and in groups. (Just be extra careful when you're on your own!)

I started at 13, but it took me far too long to connect to others via the internet; that's when your horizons really broaden.

I started at 16, that's the experience I had too. I had an unprecedented amount of insulation from real consequences (and suspicion in certain circumstances) as a minor, which worked in my favor a couple times. On the flip side my age restricted my resources, travel range, and potential exploring partners. Your experience isn't uncommon.

But you can make that work for you. Cut your teeth on the stuff in your town, build rapports and a positive reputation here, and when you turn 18 you'll be able to jump into the community with both feet. Fortunately for you, Toronto has a rich history of urbex, especially tunnels and rooftops- the greater Toronto Area's got more locations in the UER Database than any other city in the world (roughly 1500 locations, probably half of which are listed as still standing) so that'll be one hell of a "welcome to the community" present once you earn Full Membership status.

i came across UER a while ago, I believe the first time i found it was when i was searching for some storm drain systems online and a UER result came up. i`ve known about the website for about a year but only recently decided to make an account.

Yeah, Toronto has some great places. Tons of abandonments, something's always going up or being torn down, and plenty of great active sites. I don't think I'd ever run out of spots here.

Always go with someone.

And if one person in the group brings an inflatable couch to you industrial-complex-basement-boating party, don't give them your boat because you feel bad for them. I grew a third leg.
