Opened in 1905, this Sanatorium was a place where the rich would go to die. While state hospitals rarely charged the maximum $7 weekly rate, this one charged rates between $30-50. The most famous resident went on to become a governor. Upon its closure in 1944, it was converted into a nursing home, which closed in 1986.

When we went, the first floor was damaged from an attempted arson (that happened last month), as well as being filled with graffiti and beer cans. The graffiti was some of the most mean-spirited I've ever seen. Furniture was also piled in the rooms and hallways.

Going up a few floors, the building opened up and was quite pretty.

All in all, an eery and interesting experience.
