Two Michigan Stops

Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to visit two abandoned Michigan schools, one in Flint and the other in Detroit. Unfortunately, time did not allow for additional locations. Both of these are well-traveled locations that you've probably seen before but this was my first time at both.

First up is Flint. This three-story brick junior high school was built in 1929 and closed in 2003. It is located at the dead-end of a trash-filled street. This school has been absolutely destroyed by smoke/fire damage, vandalism, and scrapping. Entire walls are collapsed or missing in places.

Next is Detroit. This is one of the largest abandoned schools in the Motor City. It opened in 1928 and an addition was constructed in 1972. It closed in 2010. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to see the entire building so I will have to return and finish it up on my next Detroit trip. But here are the portions I did cover.

awesome

Kabbalah is an undramatic tradition that requires great patience and stability. One of the reasons for this tempo is that everyone has to mature his potential gradually and thoroughly at his natural pace. In this way his life's work unfolds at the right moment in his own and the cosmos's time.

Very cool. The HS in Detroit is completely sealed up now, was just there today. Same case with numerous other schools that used to be wide open.
