Better Late Than Never: My 2019 Year In Review

Yes, I am well aware it's now the middle of February and 2019 is but a fleeting memory to most. But I have never been accused of being punctual, whether it be in posting photos or just in general.

2019 was a damn good exploring year for me, certainly better than the previous year. I set a goal for myself to get out and explore at least once a month. A goal I met, although sometimes only just.

I started the year off by finally crossing one big local spot off my bucket list. Other than that most of my explores were out of town. One trip to Detroit netted over 20 locations, albeit not all of them very good, over a long weekend with essexexplorer and mookster.
Several trips with katharsys took us to Nevada, California, Ontario, Quebec, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

At the beginning of the year I finally started shooting manual. It's been a fun and at times irritating process learning the ins and outs of my camera. But I feel as though I am starting to get the hang of it and have gotten some shots this year I would not have been able to get shooting auto.

I have tried to keep this to roughly one shot per location. Some of you will recognize many of these places, while others I have never seen anyone post before. Enjoy and please feel free to let me know what you think!

I still feel you
Beneath my skin
I am tempted
To throw my senses in

Just let your fears go
You might find that you're not lost

I Got Ninety-Eight Problems

It was an early morning yesterday
I was up before the dawn

Long Chonk

Forget the peace inside
You've given way to the gods of destruction

Burn out the day
Burn out the night

"Great success!!"

Slam Dunk

A Motor City Icon

G's Up

By Hook or By Crook

The stage it smells, tells, hell's bells

Going Off The Deep End

"Damn son, where'd ya find this?"

Always been hip to the b-ball style

The Wild Wild West

And in the hard light of an angry sun
No one remembers what was said or done

I met her in a beauty salon

Fly Boys & Loose Women

You Lift My Spirit

Graybacks

"Mark it zero, dude."

And come on in, sit right down
No, you're not the first to show

Soon there will be nothing at all
Until the concrete angel falls

Freshly Waxed

Those who wish to be
Must put aside the alienation

Blood Loss

"I think I've got the black lung, Pop."

Training Night

Mine Cart Madness

Circle of Life

Obtain The Grain

Treasures From The Attic

Like boots or hearts, oh, when they start
They really fall apart

Like a surgeon
Cuttin' for the very first time

Holy Roller

Day's dawning
Skin's crawling

Final Showing

The stars are not aligned
Or the gods are malign

Listen and wait for the echo of angels who won't return

War Films

So would you be my ghost tonight
I will bring you back to life

Moldtel

And I always fill my ballroom
The event is never small

And that's a wrap. To those that made it this far, thank you! I hope to get some full sets up on here sometime soon. Cheers!

Totally awesome. I still can't get over that multiple operating room light array, it's so unique.

Thanks! I got to Summit JUST in time. They literally stated demo days after we went. I was saddened to see it in such a vandalized state, but not terribly surprised.

Always a blast with you guys!! Both of those trips were very fun and very different from one another as well. Can't wait for the next adventure bud!

Thanks bud! Seeing that room, and the entire hospital, with no idea of what it looked like inside is definitely in my top 5 all time urbex moments.

Thanks dude! I was up in your area over the summer for a music festival and did a bit of exploring while there. I will actually be back up there in a few weeks! Hoping for better luck this time, as we really only did the church back on July.

I hope you do get your year in review up, nothing wrong with being fashionably late.
