Dogs, Death and Drugs - Thread - Urban Exploration Resource

I had seen a few photos of this house floating around on Facebook with suitably silly names a couple of weeks back as well as some stupid video shot by morons but didn't put two and two together until I was outside it as my friend asked whether we wanted to go see the 'drug dealer house' without saying any more specific details.

He neglected to tell us until we were almost inside that what we were about to walk into is by far one of the most unfathomably grim things I have ever seen on an explore.

In happier times before the house was converted into an industrial scale weed factory, it was lived in by a couple who were well-reknowned dog breeders and competed in many competitions across the country. The house is filled with trophies and photos of their dogs, and assorted other doggy memorabilia. There is a separate office above the garage where the husband ran his construction business from, and out the back of the property in the huge garden which includes a small lake were numerous other buildings - workshops, sheds, kennels, chicken coops, etc. I'm not entirely sure of the sequence of events that led up to the tragedy but at some point, the lady of the house (I believe it was, anyway) tripped and fell down the stairs, landed on the steps at the bottom and died. And it was there that she laid undiscovered for around six months. Enough time for the decomposition process to soak indelibly into the carpet over the bottom of the stairs leaving an obvious outline of where the poor person met their tragic demise.

After the body was discovered and removed, the house was turned into the aforementioned colossal weed farm. Every room except the bathroom, kitchen and one bedroom was converted into grow rooms, with, according to my local friend who read it all in the local news after the fact, one lone Thai girl tasked/forced to live in the property as a guard. In November 2019 the house was raided by police and a haul of around £1.5million worth of weed was discovered, obviously after that all the hydroponic equipment was smashed up as were the power supplies being fed into every room and every plant removed.

The story of this place, at least before the drugs part, is a sadly all too common occurence in the abandoned houses people explore, I've explored at least one other house where it was documented that an owner died falling down the stairs, and how many others do you think have had people die in them? How many personal tragedies have played out in every house people explore? In all those places where there was no trace of anything bad happening you'd never know. However when you're confronted with it, the visible mark left by someone who was undiscovered for a long period of time, it really puts things into perspective. Check on those elderly neighbours if you haven't seen them for a while. Make sure those people who may not have anyone are OK, those who don't have any immediate family, that are at risk of suffering same tragic fate as what happened in this house.

Explores often leave me feeling something, be it happy that it was a great location or I got some good photos, sad that it wasn't as good as expected or whatever, but this house left me feeling numb, thats the only way I can explain it.

I'm just glad, and counting my lucky stars, that in the decade+ I've been exploring I've never found a body.
