When looking through peoples posts in photography, they sometimes mention going with a small group or another person. Are most groups formed up of people on this site, or people met locally?

When I first started ok this site. I'd see people's pictures that looked like they were in the same general area. I'd ask if they'd want to meet up and explore, or if you had a specific place in mind. Invite someone.

For me, it would usually stem from admiring someone's photography, or just exploring style, then reach out to people.

If you click with someone, likely you'll end up exploring with the same people generally.

The first thing you'll want to do is get Full Member status- it's much harder to find people willing to explore with you on here without it. That being said, FM status doesn't neccesarily mean that person is unconditionally trustworthy. It's more of a verification that they probably aren't a cop, scrapper, or serial killer.

Once you have it you can shoot some PMs to other explorers in the same general geographical area and see if they want to meet up, and if they do you can start exploring with them more regularly. If you make a good impression, they might introduce you to other explorers they know and your circle will grow.

Bear in mind that not all trusted members of the community are on UER, and some of the longtime respected UER members rarely come on here anymore. UER is less of a community hub and more of a gateway to the urbex community.

EDIT: You might have to wait a couple years to really start meeting with people. Very few explorers will be willing to explore with a minor, simply because the legal liability if caught with a minor is much higher than it is if caught with another adult. I joined UER at 16 too, and didn't meet up with anyone until 18. Don't get too frustrated- if you've already built up a reputation on here as a solid explorer who's not a dick it'll be easier to find explorers willing to meet up once you do become an adult.

I’ve met some people wandering in buildings. But really it’s about communication and reaching out. It never hurts ask but you’ll probably find most wont take you up till you’re at least 18

Don’t worry man. I’m not frustrated at all. I understand that I’d be nothing but a liability. Thanks for the advice

Chill. It's a legitimate question, and not one that's answered in the FAQ section. We all start somewhere.

Yup. Great to start young! And great to ask how to meet peeps with similar interests.

I had taken my 13 yo nephew exploring a few times. But, it's a bit different when you're taking family I guess.

Get into whatever areas you can.

You might be able to ask superPhoenix for some pointers too. I think he stated real young. And he's a sneaking expert.

Yeah it's called the Rookies Forum.
If you're in the W TX area this weekend Aran, I wuv to meetup with you.
That flu thing is all better now...
you can trust me, I'm on the internet

If you have some patience the answer will present itself far better than Aran can.
That's UER's big secret.
You have a question about how something works here, wait, read, and usually the answer will come to you.
After 13 years I'm still waiting on a few details... and no Aran you don't know these answers.

To the OP, if you want to meet people here the best way to do that is explore, post pics, and interreact with others here.
Trust is built over time.
If people feel comfortable with you, they will come to you.

.

You literally rewrote what I said and reposted it. I never claimed to know all the answers, but I do think that making things unnecessarily difficult for newbies is counterproductive.

You could come to Portland Oregon and DM me and I'll meet you or just about anybody for a cup of coffee or beer. I can't promise I'll take you exploring afterwards but could likely give you tips on finding stuff and clues.

If you check my previous posts you'll find it is you who is repeating what I said years before you were here...
your evolution is painful to watch.

As for newbies I've gotten far more jumped in than you.
One reason is because I've always been active in PMs... oh I mean DMs.
One at a time.
Difficult? Try that line on a pissed off LEO... I dare you.
How about this?
THINK before you post a thread on the Main Forum.
This is exactly why the Rookies section was created... so glad you posting this outside of there

As is yours. I went to bat for you when you were shadow banned, as did several others- but you seem to have taken our defense of you as endorsement that you can do no wrong. UER is not your personal fiefdom, and no matter how much you seem to assume otherwise, your word is not law.

Fiefdom?
You are a lame fuck.
The only thing I assume is we will all die painful nasty deaths... of coarse you didn't know that, did you?
Remember that and know it's true.
If I want to give my opinion I will.

Remember who the real enemies are. And be kind of civil. No need to hate, and be irate, in the wrong directions.

Not getting overly offended, is a good personal trait as well. And good character is hard to maintain on the internet.
