2019 Review of the Year

I don't know if I'm going to be getting out much over the last couple of weeks of the year, so here is what I got up to over the last 12 months. It's been a pretty incredible ride, I've had the best year of exploring I can remember overall with June marking the ten year anniversary of my first ever explore as a bonus too.

It's too hard to pick a favourite moment out of all of them as there have simply been too many amazing experiences to count this year but my long weekend in Detroit over Easter with Essexplorer and others was one of the best exploring trips of my life and will live long in my memory. Even the places I explored that weren't all that good I still had a good time in with some great people.

Anyway here's a summary of what I did in pictorial form, most of the locations I explored in 2019 are featured here however a few I can't currently show for various reasons (hopefully at some point in the future though). I think over the course of the year I shared maybe half of what I actually did so a lot of these will be 'new' showings.

Strap yourself in, it's a long one!

Those hugging skeletons...what is their history or significance? I found one exactly like that in a attic not too long ago. Nice series of shots by the way.

It's a sculpture called 'The Nuba Survival' by sculpture artist John Buckley (a local to me, who died recently as it happens), inspired by his time spent with a relief organisation in the Nuba Mountains in Sudan. It's in a field in the middle of nowhere next to an abandoned barn, over the brow of a hill so not visible from the road and there are no signs anywhere directing you to it or plaques explaining it's meaning.

10 and 50!!!! amen!!!

Kabbalah is an undramatic tradition that requires great patience and stability. One of the reasons for this tempo is that everyone has to mature his potential gradually and thoroughly at his natural pace. In this way his life's work unfolds at the right moment in his own and the cosmos's time.

I tried to be mature...why resort to the expected childish response...but after seeing pic 10, I feel I must say--That's what she said! 😲
Sorry...but seriously, great to see such a huge and amazing collection; that auditorium in 40 still blows me away, glad you had such a great year, and glad you've shared it with us! 😊

Jeez dude, when did you find time to sleep? Such an awesome area of sites, and too many terrific photos to single out. Although I am very curious about the Skyraider in 117, did I miss that thread?

EDIT: Looking again, that’s a Fairey Gannet, not a Skyraider.

Cheers all, looking back over what I did was pretty cool for me too as I'd forgotten a fair chunk of it.

Yes it is indeed a Fairey Gannet, it's stuck on the edge of what used to be an old airfield in Scotland for some reason - one of many things I didn't get around to posting a topic about.

As for sleeping...well I can do that over Christmas ha!

It was an amazing year, and an amazing States trip this year too. I can't wait to spend a good chunk of time out there again next year I'm sure we'll find a way to better it!
