These seems like a noble cause but as I've said many times before...
It's a bad idea to stir up any dust at sites. Asbestos, chemicals, pathogenic fungus/bacteria, radioactive contamination maybe present.
Many pathogenic organisms live and thrive in moist* debris a slight skin break or even intact skin can provide a point of entry, some can be inhaled.
Bird and rodent droppings are a known source of pathogens.
It's surprising easy how badly metal scraps and glass can lacerate.
The presence of used needles ups the ante a lot; blood borne hepatitis viruses can survive in dried blood for at least a few days.
Let sleeping dogs lie...
limit your exposure. *many can lie dormant and viable in completely dry debris.
