Had a reason to go through Electra TX yesterday. Decided to do some slumming. Revisited a couple locations Ive posted, now gone. Checked out a half dozen more Ive been looking at for years, still there. Determined I could not get in at least in broad daylight or without using bolt cutters, so I just drove around town.

Aye caramba. Got followed by the local PD everywhere I went, I drive a nice truck 2019 Ford F150 I am a conservative looking presentable white boy, and never even slowed down below the speed limit, certainly did not exceed any speed limit or violate any traffic controls. I still got the stink eye and the tail from the local gendarmes nonetheless.

Ok so even though the town has 5 or six promising buildings worth exploring, I got the feeling I would not be welcome. The residential neighborhoods are about 50% bandos, most are falling apart and collapsing. Overgrown with brush and or have compact SUVs, broken down in the yard. Sometimes more than one. Never saw so many dinky little SUVs broken down anywhere before. Its like two or three on every block. A lot are still running around though must have been a fad here for awhile.

I recall there was some huge scandal here, city government was found to be corrupt or something anyone been to Electra lately? No of course you have not. Because its not "on the way" to anywhere and had no reason to exist since 1911 when W.T. Waggoner struck oil up here. Hahahaha.. (Waggoner Ranch largest ranch in U.S. inside one fence over 535,000 acres)

If you have any plans to go slumming in Electra, watch this video from the Electra visitors bureau first. https://theconserv...st-lawful-citizen/

Well, anyway. If you decide to go to Electra and for whatever reason get caught trespassing, that's the LEOs and justice system in that video you will have to interact with.

Just FYI.

Electra is one of those places that fits just about every known west Texas stereotype. It's an odd little town, and yes, their LEO's are downright creepy at times. They're always only a block or two away no matter which part of town you happen to be in (not that there are that many parts)!

I actually had an Electra cop pull up next to me while I was parallel parked on what's left of the "main" street in what used to be their downtown. I had noticed him screeching up and down several blocks right before he pulled up next to my car. It was pretty obvious he was on a mission.
"Have you seen a white male on foot without any clothes on?"
I think I hesitated a little before I said; "No, sir..?"
I have to admit, I was caught completely off guard with that one, so my answer sounded more like a question...
A question that was never answered.
I think he mumbled a quick "thank you," as he simultaneously gave his customized cop engine an abundance of gas and off he went into the night, tires screeching again, except this time he turned on his siren when he disappeared around the corner. I never saw that officer again. Nor did I ever encounter the mysterious man with no clothes.
To this day I still sometimes wonder if he was ever apprehended.

Strange town, indeed.

Whoa Dee that does not surprise me at all. I am surprised he didn't want to search you though.

I tried searching for the scandal I had heard about on the Wichita Falls TV news and learned theres been at least 3 or 4 recent publicized scandals!

Police department quit

Dispatchers quit

Chief Johnny Morris was fired under controversial circumstances

Then theres this guy I never heard of, He was police chief / armed robber / escaped prisoner !

https://www.myplai...k-side-8395780.php

The whole damn town is crazy and a disgrace must be something in the water.

Im definitely not going back to Electra anytime soon haha..

I watched the video and even read the comments at the end (that guy must have had some extra time on his hands!). According to one commenter, both of those cops were fired, they changed chiefs and let the contract expire with that DA or prosecutor (I can't remember which). I was thinking maybe they would get their shit together after that, but then I noticed the date of the comments was 2014!
Looks like some things never change.

I've had my eye on a couple buildings there (one in particular) but I have never been able to shake the feeling of bad juju when I'm out there. I always thought it was just me, but it sounds like I'm not the only one that noticed their questionable law enforcement and overall weirdness. It's weird even for west Texas.

Last time I was out that way, I got a ticket, Fortunately nothing happened to me that was worthy of a youtube video. Never ever speed on highway 287. Shame on me, because I already knew that and still did it anyway!

Trust your instincts... small town, big assholes.
A common theme in West Texas.
That cop may someday catch his white elephant... what lousy come-on line

The best part of her cop's story is: have you seen white male, on foot, without any clothes on?

The next line was going to be: Well little lady let me show you one HAHAHOHO!

Dee's an attractive young woman but that's the absolute worst pick up line ever!

This actually gives me a funny idea kinda like the storm Area 51 idea...

What if 90-100 explorers all showed up, all at the same time and started infiltrating every bando in Electra, all at the same time?

The 3 or 4 rube cops would be straight up overwhelmed, but that might also cause them call DPS which is the default back up for small rube police departments in Podunk Texas. Just a thought NeuroticMatt.

"White elephant" is a reference to a line from Jim Morrison as he said to a pretty girl.
"What do you think of white elephants?"

Here is one possible explanation for all the craziness. Electra is full of dope and dope fiends.

Meth induced psychosis in my unprofessional medical opinion. 8 pounds of liquid meth-amphetamine? When dried out thats enough to rob everyone in the whole stinking town of their souls.

And their teeth..

hahaha, I was thinking big, like the Texas Rangers or even the federal marshals. What the hell, bring in both. I mean, 90-100 of us... We could be the start of an uprising. Disorderly Texas country folk are definitely a cause for concern (and probably all own guns). Worst case scenario, we all make our final stand in Vernon down the road, lol.

Not to mention we would almost double the local population!

I am more afraid of the local population than the cops! Scaggy looking people, sorry to be judgmental but I can spot a meth freak 3 or 4 bandos away, in a car.

Speaking of bandos I spotted a couple of hot ones back in 2007 but chickened out due to high visibility and all the damn lookie-lous cruising around during the day for no apparent reason. I think you probably know one of which ones I mean and when I say hot, Im talking 17000v hot !

Im throwin in the towel though. Those cops are just too badge heavy and aggressive for me and it'd probably end up bein a 9/11 type charge if captured. Yikes!
