Just came home from Jersey again. I didn't spend much time exploring, but stopped off when I could.

The House the Ivy Ate

It was really sunny and I have trouble seeing in bright light. I didn't notice that I had my camera set on TV, and all of my externals for part of this day were overexposed. :/ This one was pretty much consumed by ivy and shrubs.

5. not as pretty, in my opinion

9. scary stairs

10. I didn't walk around on the second floor, or go to the third, because of how sketch the floor was. From the stairs, I had trouble getting good angles, but the colors were nice.

Drinky Trains

My partner used to party here as a teenager. They're still around...

Sandy's Playground of Regrets

We used to drive by this abandoned mini golf shithole, but never got around to exploring it before they took away the giant gorilla slide - hence regrets. Some of the ooparts are probably actually hurricane debris.

34. I climbed out of the bushes here and immediately flushed a family of yellow-crowned night herons. They're living where bumper boats used to be.

Here are some pictures taken outside abandoned buildings I didn't enter.

I like these, looks like a good combination of fun explores! They're all pretty cool, but that old fun park is my favorite. Love the shot of ol' snakey!

Thanks! And yeah, the wildlife out at that one was doing really well. Made me happy.

The one of the snake is a great portrait. Mind if I ask what lens you were using? I don't mind snakes, but I don't know differences enough to be comfortable getting too close to one without being able to accurately identify it.

That old house exterior and the ice cream shop (and the snake) I think are my favorites in the set. Nice work!

Thanks!

My camera is a hand-me-down Canon Rebel T5i, lens I use most often is a Canon EFS 18-55mm.

I got close enough for the snake to be ready to slither away (it did after I clicked). It's a garter snake though; they'll musk (make a stink) before biting, usually. If I weren't sure about it, I wouldn't have gotten close.

My first “real” camera was a T4i with that same lens and I loved it. I loved it even more when I invested in a tamron tele zoom (16-300mm I think) lens and even better, the Tamron ultra wide zoom 10mm-? (equivalent to a full frame 16mm) lens. I use a Sony now, but still have those same lens equivalents and they’re pretty much the lenses I still use 90% of the time.

Nice, thanks for the recommendation. I'll have to try to get my hands on one.
